Millwood State Park in Arkansas is a true gem because it features the 29,260-acre Millwood Lake for fishing and watersports. It is also an Audubon-designated Important Bird Area, giving birders a chance to add exciting entries to their journals. Hikers can explore two self-guided walking trails to experience the state's outdoors. If you do not bring your own, you can rent a flat-bottomed boat, canoe, or pedal boat. The on-site marina also sells bait, groceries, and gas.

Located just a six-minute drive from Millwood State Park, Millwood Landing RV Resort is family-oriented and one of the top Arkansas camping destinations. The site provides a perfect platform for many outdoor activities ranging from boat riding and fishing to golfing at a beautiful 18-hole golf course. If you're not a golfer, the park has tennis and basketball courts and a large swimming pool. Other amenities include restrooms and showers, two fishing ponds, and a volleyball court.
Cottonshed Park
You can access Cottonshed Park easily off the beaten path about 19 miles from Millwood State Park and southwest of Mineral Springs. It's a peaceful wooded area that provides some of the best fishing experiences on Millwood Lake. You can also access the Selina River when inside the park's campground. Campers navigate this area by use of boat lanes. The campgrounds have showers, picnic tables, fire rings, grills, potable water and flush toilets. The management also offers hydrants, lantern poles and sewer dump stations.
Sunrise RV Park
Sunrise RV Park is easily accessible when coming from Millwood State Park. It's wide open and right off the highway. You'll receive a warm welcome from the customer service at the offices and an introduction to the park's trails, campsites and beautiful nature areas. Amenities include electrical hookups, picnic tables, fire rings and bathhouses.

Millwood State Park
There are lots of activities for outdoor enthusiasts in this state park, including hiking, fishing, boating, wildlife watching, and bicycling. In addition, there are two playgrounds for kids, a pavilion for large groups, and two boat launches. You can also enjoy a leisurely meal in the picnic area, which overlooks the timber-surrounded lake.
Inside Millwood State Park
At this park, campers enjoy riding on the bicycle trails, hiking on the walking trails and taking a stroll in the park's forested areas. What's more, the marina on site offers kayaks, canoes, baits, groceries, gas and gift items for sale. You can take advantage of the marina and rent a motorized boat for some adventure on Millwood Lake.
Fishing
Fishing is excellent from a boat or shore at this state park. Common catches are catfish, bluegill, and sunfish. In addition, the lake is a popular largemouth and black bass fishing destination. A bass management plan has been in effect for several years in the area. This plan has succeeded in building the population of this type of fish up to the point where even a novice bass angler can have success. In addition, the fish management efforts have resulted in several bass tournament organizers choosing the park as the venue for their events.
Geocaching
Arkansas State Parks offers a geocaching program designed to encourage a visit to all 52 state parks. A cache in each park, including Millwood Lake State Park, has a clue that leads to a 53rd geocache located somewhere in the state. In addition, if this activity is something you are enthusiastic about, you can get a permit to place a cache in the park.
Nature Watching
This outdoor recreation area is popular among birders, and many species can be seen from the hiking trails or while relaxing in the picnic area. Of the 400-plus birds on the state list, over 300 have been sighted at the park. While visiting, you may see rarer birds like hooded mergansers, osprey, red-headed woodpeckers, brown-headed nuthatches, and painted buntings.
Flora and Fauna
Millwood State Park is home to water oaks, willow oaks, and pine. These trees create a pleasant forested atmosphere. While exploring the park, visitors may spot raccoons, deer, turkeys, and foxes. During the warm months, you may even glimpse an alligator in the water.
Hiking
There are two trails at the park. The Wildlife Lane Nature Trail is a four-mile route that meaders on the lake's edge and features an active beaver lodge. The 1.5-mile Waterfowl Way Trail winds through portions of a wildlife sanctuary. It is flat and easygoing, making it ideal for a family outing. In addition, there are blinds on the trail for viewing and photographing birds and wildlife.
Boating
Visitors can go motor boating, kayaking, pedal boating, or canoeing. You can rent all four types of watercraft at the marina. Multiple boat lanes meander through the submerged timber in the water. The Millwood State Park Boat Launch is near the campground and parking lot. Beard's Bluff Boat Ramp is a short distance north of the playground.
Biking
The Wildlife Lane Nature Trail is open to mountain bikers as well as hikers. Campers also bring their bicycles to ride the park's roads for exercise or to get around.

To get to the park, take AR-32 E from Ashdown, AR. It is a short 9.4-mile drive from Ashdown to the park.

The parking area is near the Millwood State Park Boat Launch, and it is large enough to accommodate vehicles towing trailers. There are no fees to enter the park.
