Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Chickasaw National Recreation Area is a south-central Oklahoma public park that includes both Platt National Park and Arbuckle Recreation Area. It was first established when the Chickasaw Indian Nation sold 640 acres of land to the U.S. government in 1902. The area was designated as Sulphur Springs Reservation the same year and eventually redesignated as Platt National Park. In 1976, Platt National Park and Arbuckle Recreation Area were combined, giving Chickasaw National Recreation Area the 9,888.8 acres of beauty it now contains. The grounds of the park offer forested hills, flowing streams, natural springs, and scenic lakes. Some of the most popular activities to enjoy include fishing, swimming, biking, picnicking, hiking, and sightseeing.
