Minute Man National Historical Park

The first shots of the American Revolutionary War were fired on April 19, 1775, at the North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts. The five-mile road from there to Lexington was home to many of the earliest battles of the war against the British troops. Those sites are commemorated at Minute Man National Historical Park, which was established by U.S. Congress on September 21, 1959. This park also contains the Wayside Home, where authors Amos Bronson Alcott, Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Margaret Sidney lived.
