The Budds Creek National Motocross is a large-scale event on Saturday, but more events take place on the racetrack before the event on Thursday and Friday. Campers who stay on-site can enjoy the added entertainment, and the weekend schedule is available on the website.

ON-SITE AMENITIES

There are quite a few amenities for racegoers at the motocross since the grounds have grandstand and open-air festival seating with a handicapped viewing area and covered Super Ticket Seating and VIP Viewing Areas. There is nearly 100% track viewing from a number of vantage points. There’s also an interactive Sponsor Village and Pro Pit Access on Saturday morning.

RVING AT THE EVENT

One of the best ways to attend a motocross event is in an RV, and there is dry camping available at Budds Creek Raceway. RV camping is perfect for these kinds of events because you can watch racing throughout the day and jog back to your campsite at any point to get some food, reapply sunscreen, grab a jacket, or even take a nap for a bit. You can choose between Fan Camping and Preferred Camping, which is closer to the track. Here are some tips for camping at Budds Creek Raceway: • The gates for the campgrounds open Thursday before the event at noon. Every day, the gates are closed from midnight to 6 a.m. • Campsites are given on a first-come, first-served basis, and campers cannot choose their individual campsites or reserve campsites for others. • The maximum width of every campsite is 20 feet. • There is a 10 p.m. curfew for campers, and quiet times take place after 11 p.m. each night. • Campfires are not permitted in the campgrounds, and cooking grills must be smaller than 20 inches across. Generators are allowed. • Pets are allowed in the campgrounds, but they must be on a leash while outside. Pets are not permitted to be in the Fan Viewing or Pro Side A areas during the day of the event. You can also camp nearby: • Harbor View RV & Camping Resort - has full hookups, laundry, showers, a pool, shuffleboard, and a clubhouse. The campground is pet-friendly as well. • Aqualand Marina & Campground - offers a choice of primitive to full hookup sites. There is also fishing, rental boats, a convenience store, laundry, showers, a playground, a rec hall, and a dump station. There are pull-through sites available, too, and the campground is pet-friendly.

WHERE TO STAY

If you’d like to stay outside of the raceway area, there are some other nearby campgrounds, like campgrounds around Washington, D.C. and hotels. • The Washington DC/Capitol KOA Holiday is an RV resort in Millersville, Maryland that has lots of on-site amenities. There are basketball courts, a jumping pillow, and outdoor movies during the summer. The campground also has daily shuttle services directly to Washington, D.C. • The Thunderbird Motel is the closest hotel to the raceway, and it’s pet-friendly. Plus, there is free parking and free Wi-Fi for guests.

HOW TO GET THERE

From the north: Turn left on Maryland Highway 5 south out of Waldorf. Continue straight on Highway 5 for 16 miles to Maryland Highway 236. Turn right on 236 for 6 miles until it ends at Maryland Highway 234. Turn right onto 234. The track is 1/8 of a mile down on the left. From the south: Take I-95 north to Route 207. Turn right, this becomes US Highway 301. Travel north 5 miles into Maryland. Turn right on Maryland Highway 234. The track is 10 miles down on the right.

PARKING

Onsite parking is available for an additional fee. There is handicap parking available, plus motorcycle parking is free and includes a gear and helmet check.

Tickets for the day of events start at $86.21, but prices may increase closer to the event day.
