Celebrating all things relating to pop culture fandom, Phoenix Fan Fusion is for those diehards into movies, comics, anime, video games, and cosplay. The event takes place annually at the Phoenix Convention Center in the city's downtown area. It started in 2002 as the Phoenix Cactus Comicon and lasted for just six hours. Less than 500 people attended that first year with tickets that cost just $3. It later grew to include two days and now offers three days of fun and excitement.
Let your inner geek shine at this smaller-scale version of San Diego's Comic-Con. Attend various celebrity panels and Q&A sessions, participate in interactive workshops, watch live free wrestling matches, or enter yourself into a cosplay contest. There's also a special Kids Zone as well as a Gaming Hall where you can play board, card, and role-playing games.
The Exhibit Hall at the Convention Center will feature interactive displays as well as memorabilia from your favorite TV shows and movies. At the Arcade Oasis, show off your gaming skills on a number of classic arcade machines. If you want even more gaming action, the Gaming Hall is where you can gather with everyone to play board and role-playing games in addition to virtual reality games.
Phoenix Fan Fusion will also feature celebrity and signature panels, after-dark parties, workshops, special Q&A events, and cosplay roasts. For the little ones, the event has kids' activity rooms with interactive games and character meet-and-greets.
The Phoenix Convention Center is a fully accessible facility, with wheelchair ramps, automatic doors, and multiple elevators. The property also permits service animals for those with disabilities. There's complimentary Wi-Fi in the public areas of the Convention Center. Also on-site are two nursing pods, first-aid service, a lost and found, and pickup and drop-off ride-share zones.
Food options at the Convention Center include PHX Kitchens Downtown Food Hall as well as vending machines and exhibit hall concessions. There's also a Starbucks on-site.
