Louisiana is one of our very favorite states to explore. The culture here is unlike anywhere else in the country, and the attractions are plentiful. Museums, zoos, and natural areas are around every corner, and historic sites are scattered pretty much everywhere. That said, one of our very favorite things to do is visit Louisiana amusement parks.
That’s right, there are several really great amusement parks in Louisiana, and we love checking them out and experiencing all they have to offer!
Louisiana Amusement Parks
If you’re planning a trip to Louisiana, you may be wondering which Louisiana amusement parks you should visit. This can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t know what each park offers. That is where this article comes into play. Below is a list of our favorite amusement parks in Louisiana:

Dixie Landin’ and Blue Bayou
A Baton Rouge amusement park that opened in 1999, Dixie Landin’ is a must-visit attraction for thrill seekers who find themselves in Louisiana. This is one of the bigger amusement parks in the state, and is chock-full of awesome things to see and do.
Some favorite Dixie Landin’ attractions include the drop tower, the log flume, and three awesome roller coasters. Little ones love the collection of kiddie rides, and everyone can have a good time on the tilt-a-whirl and scrambler.
In addition to the traditional amusement park rides mentioned above, Dixie Landin’ is also home to an awesome water park called Blue Bayou. Oddly, Blue Bayou actually opened before Dixie Landin’ back in 1989. Since then, guests of all ages have thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing water attractions offered here in the summer months.
Favorite attractions in Blue Bayou include Mambo (an awesome aqua loop) and Voodoo (an enormous “behemoth bowl” water slide). The park is also home to the tornado slide, water racer, in-line water slide, and more, making this an awesome water park for those who love their water slides.
Have some smaller swimmers with you? They will enjoy the water play at Polliwogs and Pirates, as well as Pirate’s Cove.

Hoping to take the RV on your Louisiana adventure to Dixie Landin’ and Blue Bayou? This is an excellent idea. You’re sure to adore having the comforts of home with you wherever you roam, especially after a long day of enjoying the theme parks.
Farr Park Campground and Horse Activity Center — Farr Park Campground is the perfect home base for your Baton Rouge getaway. Pull-through sites make parking easy, and the power and water hookups ensure you’re comfortable during your time there. The best part? The camping fees here are totally affordable.

Guests 35” and under can enjoy the thrills at Dixie Landin’ and Blue Bayou free of charge. Meanwhile, those above 35” can expect to pay admission, with those over 48” paying a slight bit more.
Onsite parking is available, and there is a small fee to park in the onsite lot. Free tubes are available for the rides that require them, but those who wish to use tubes outside of the rides will need to pay a rental fee. Life jackets are available to use at no charge. Outside food is not allowed, but dining is available in the park.
Carousel Garden Amusement Park and Storyland
An absolutely adorable amusement spot that is located in New Orleans’ City Park, Carousel Garden Amusement Park and Storyland are both perfect places to spend a day, and are even better when enjoyed together. Not only will your little thrill-seekers be entertained, but so will the adults and teenagers, making this an ideal stop for fun for the whole family.
Carousel Gardens Amusement Park is home to 18 fantastic rides. One of these is of course a carousel, but you’ll also find a super fun ladybug-themed roller coaster, a tilt-a-whirl, a ferris wheel, and more. Smaller riders appreciate the slime bucket ride and the fun slide, and the whole family will get a kick out of the “Wacky Shack”.
Once you’re done exploring Carousel Gardens, be sure to take the time to see Storyland. This well-themed area takes guests on an adventure through their favorite fairy tales. Visitors can hop aboard Captain Hook’s pirate ship, climb Jack and Jill’s hill, and even experience hanging out in the mouth of a whale like Pinocchio.
Looking for even more fun while in City Park? Believe it or not, there is still more to be had. We highly recommend the mini golf course located in the park, and the model train garden is tons of fun to see. Boat and bike rentals add to the fun, and the disc golf course offers yet another recreation opportunity.
RV Camping Near Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and Storyland
Clearly, there is a lot to do in City Park in New Orleans. Not only that, there is a lot to see and do in the city in general. For this reason, we recommend staying for a few days at least. The best way to do this? Staying in the comfort of an RV, or course!
Bayou Segnette State Park — A favorite stopping place of experienced RVers, Bayou Segnette State Park is an absolutely beautiful park that allows you to camp right in the middle of a Louisiana bayou. The campsites are spacious and well kept, and they feature both water and electric hookups. We love the clean bathhouses and laundry facilities found in this park as well.

Daily tickets to Carousel Gardens Amusement Park cost $25 for those 36” and over. There is an option for a $15 chaperone pass for adults who are accompanying a child, and seniors also pay only $15. Tickets to Storyland are a mere $6 per person.
Outside food is not allowed in either of these parks, but there are places in City Park to have a picnic. Additionally, food is sold onsite for those who prefer to purchase prepared food during their outing.
SPAR Sulphur Parks Waterpark
Despite being a smaller park, SPAR Sulphur Parks Waterpark is a favorite of locals, and we’re guessing you’ll love it as well. The spot is particularly nice during the hottest days of the southern summer when getting cool in the pool is absolutely heavenly. That said, we know you’ll have a blast even at the beginning and end of the season.
Smaller swimmers adore the water playground featured in this park and are happy to climb, slide, and play with the interactive water features for hours on end. Of course, the nearby dump buckets and water mushroom are appreciated as well, and the splash pad provides yet another way to have a splashing good time.
Visiting with older kids who might want something a bit more exciting? You’ll be happy to learn that there are five big and exciting water slides that they are sure to love. Once they’re done getting their thrills, they can check out the lazy river, the raging river, or the lagoon pool for even more fun.
RV Camping Near SPAR Sulphur Parks Waterpark
The best place to stay when visiting Sulphur, LA? Your own home-on-wheels, of course! Taking your RV with you means you won’t have to track down a hotel room when staying in rural areas, nor will you have to worry about the cleanliness of whatever hotel you do find. Instead, you can relax in the comfort of your own space.
A+ Motel and RV Park — We can’t speak for the motel proper, but the campsites at A+ Motel and RV Park are fantastic! They feature concrete pads, full hookups, and plenty of space to spread out. We love the onsite playground and pool, and the fact that this campground is just minutes from the waterpark is a huge bonus!

Daily admission fees to Sulphur Parks Waterpark depend on whether or not you are a resident of the town of Sulphur. Those who live in the area can enter for $6–$8 depending on age. Meanwhile, non-residents can expect to pay $12–$14 depending on age. Those aged two years and under enter for free, and military and senior discounts are available.
Proper swimwear must be worn when swimming at this park. No outside food, tobacco products, or toys are allowed, and bags are checked at entrance. Food is sold at the onsite concession stand and prices are reasonable.
Splash Kingdom
Located in Shreveport, Splash Kingdom is an excellent addition to any Louisiana road trip. The mission of this park is to provide a safe waterpark experience for families, and we think they do an absolutely superb job. Not only is it a super safe park, it’s also clean, well kept, and a whole lot of fun.
Rides in this park include a race slide, an impossible-to-miss bright pink tube slide referred to as “Cotton Candy”, a couple of plunge slides, and many more. In fact, guests will find a total of 11 different slides in the park, meaning you can fill your whole day with slipping and sliding fun.
Prefer a more relaxing experience? You might like floating down the lazy river and watching the little ones play in the Kids Castle play area. The activity pool also provides plenty of fun, as does the wave pool.
Want some dry fun? Consider hopping out for a game of sand volleyball during your time in the park.
RV Camping Near Splash Kingdom
You will of course need a place to stay while in Shreveport. Our suggestion? Take an RV so you’ll be completely comfortable no matter where you land. Not only that, you might even save some money traveling this way, leaving more for park admission, souvenirs, and treats.
Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey — We love KOA parks. They are reliably clean, tend to offer great amenities, and we always know they will feel welcoming when we arrive. The Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey is all of these things and more. We love that this park is so close to all Shreveport has to offer, and the lovely full-hookup sites are absolutely fantastic! Yes, this is the place to park your RV while in the area.

Prices for day tickets vary based on the day you visit. That said, you can buy an “any day” ticket for $24.95 (pick-a-day tickets can be cheaper if you choose less popular days). Seniors, military members, and those under 42” will all receive a discount.
Want to visit after 4pm? Twilight Pricing will get you in the gate after 4pm for just $14.95.
Outside food can be brought into the park if you buy a Cooler Pass in advance. That said, there is also food available for purchase in the park. Other things you might want to budget for include a locker and a cabana.
Liberty Lagoon
Want even more Louisiana water park fun? Head to Liberty Lagoon in Baton Rouge. This colorful little water park is crammed with water park fun, making it a wonderful oasis when the summer heat hits. In fact, we’d even go so far as to say it’s one of our favorite places to be during the summer time, and we’re thinking you’ll probably agree.
Two flume slides offer kids and adults a fun ride. Meanwhile, the two thrill slides and one bowl slide provide the excitement thrill-seekers are looking for. Those in search of even more thrilling fun will love the Shockwave surf simulator!
Younger visitors will love the splash pad and kiddie play area, and those who enjoy a challenge will adore walking across the lily pad pool. If you’re a person who enjoys floating, the lazy river is the spot for you, and everyone is sure to appreciate the seating and umbrellas on the deck.
RV Camping Near Liberty Lagoon
RV camping is always the way to go on a family vacation, and this is just as true for a visit to Liberty Lagoon as any other destination. We love that staying in an RV allows you to spread out, cook your own meals, and relax after wearing yourself out at the water park.
The aforementioned Farr Park Campground is a great place to stay when visiting Baton Rouge, but there are other options. Below is another great choice when RV camping in the area.
Baton Rouge KOA Holiday — As mentioned before, we really enjoy staying in KOA campgrounds. The Baton Rouge KOA Holiday is yet another fantastic KOA location, and is the perfect pick for your vacation. You’ll love the clean full-hookup sites, and the pool, kids activities, and dog park are all amazing additions. Best of all, the staff here is friendly and welcoming, making this a lovely place to stay.

Planning Your Trip to Liberty Lagoon
Guests aged 1 and under will be admitted free of charge. All others can expect to pay $12 per person, with discounts for active duty military and first responders. There is an additional charge for those who wish to ride the Shockwave.
Parking and tube rentals are free, as are life jackets for those who’d like to wear one. Locker rentals are an option, and restrooms, showers, and changing areas are available as well.
Special events happen throughout the summer, so be sure to check the schedule before you visit!
Aqua PARDS
Aqua PARDS is another smaller local water park. This one is run by the Parks and Recreation Department of Denham Springs, and despite its small size, it is well worth checking out. We love the community feel found in this park, and the folks who use the park are friendly, welcoming, and happy to share a good time with whoever stops by.
In this park you will find an adorable little water play area for younger kids. This area includes a water mushroom, interactive water features, tiny slides, and more. The huge dump bucket provides thrills for all ages, and the larger water slides are fun for older kids, teens, and even adults.
Finally, we must mention “Crooked Creek”, the lovely lazy river that is the perfect place to relax and cool off.
RV Camping Near Aqua PARDS
When given a choice, we will always choose RV camping, and Denham Springs is the perfect place to take the RV. Not only are there a few fantastic RV parks around, it just so happens that staying in an RV will allow you to fully relax and take in the city from a different point of view. We can’t think of a better way to experience a place.
We mentioned Baton Rouge KOA Holiday earlier. This would be an ideal place to stay while visiting Aqua PARDS. However, the park below is also a great option.
Lakeside RV Resort by RJourney — An incredibly well-reviewed park, Lakeside RV Resort by RJourney is a lovely place to stay indeed. It’s a quiet and clean park that is set right on a lake. Full hookups are available, and the sites are paved, level, and well-kept. Folks love fishing in the onsite lake, and game room, playground, and pool ensure you’re never bored while camped here.
Planning Your Trip to Aqua PARDS
Admission to Aqua PARDS is $8 for residents of the area and $10 for non-residents. On Mondays and Tuesdays, admission is discounted by $2, and children 30” and under enter for free.
Life jacket, locker, and pavilion rentals are all available for a fee. Tubes for the lazy river are provided.
Cool Zoo
Located in New Orleans’ Audubon Zoo, Cool Zoo is the only water park in NOLA, and is the place to go when the weather gets hot. We love that a visit to this wonderful park can be added onto a morning at the zoo. However, it’s totally okay to visit the water park on its own should the weather be too hot for a zoo day.
This park features a super cool water playground that includes a giant dump bucket, a climbing structure, small slides, and more. The lazy river allows guests to float around the park, making stops at two sandy beaches where seating areas allow you to take a break and soak up the sun.
Hoping to get in some thrills while at Cool Zoo? The alligator water slide is the perfect place to find just that, so be sure to stop by!
RV Camping Near Cool Zoo
Wondering where to stay when visiting New Orleans? Why not take an RV and really make yourself at home in the Big Easy? You can cook your favorite meals, sleep in your own bed, and save some money while you’re at it.
As we said before, we love Bayou Segnette State Park. That said, there are other good options in the area. Here’s a great pick!
New Orleans RV Resort and Marina — A lovely park that puts you right in the middle of the action, New Orleans RV Resort and Marina offers all kinds of amenities. Here, you’ll have full hookups, a pool, a dog park, a playground, a shuttle, and more. If you’re looking to park your RV in the city, this might just be the place for you.

Admission to Cool Zoo is an add on to admission to the Audubon Zoo and costs $10 on top of normal zoo admission. Zoo members enter the zoo for free and can purchase Cool Zoo as an add-on for only $8. Those under 2 years of age enter Cool Zoo free of charge.
Food and drinks are sold in the park, and shaded seating is available. Additionally, swimsuits, towels, and other waterpark necessities can be bought in the onsite store.
White Sands Lake Aqua Park
Last on our list is White Sands Lake in Franklinton. This is an interesting water park because it is set entirely on a lake. This is awesome because it means you can get all the fun of a water park day and combine it with the fun of a lake day. This is sure to keep the whole family happy!
The attractions at White Sands Lake Aqua Park are all inflatables. These all float on the lake and include things like slides, trampolines, and climbing structures. As you might imagine, these provide both a challenge and a fantastic time as you jump, climb, slip, and slide into the cool lake water.
Prefer to skip the inflatables? Not to worry, you can totally just spend the day relaxing on the sandy beach instead.
RV Camping Near White Sands Lake
Every visit to a lake should be accompanied by a night of camping. Why not make a campground your lodging option of choice when visiting White Sand Lake Aqua Park. You’re sure to love adding the fun of camping to your lake experience.
Bogue Chitto State Park — Fantastic RV camping can be found at Bogue Chitto State Park. Not only will you have full hookups in this park, you’ll also be surrounded by the natural beauty of Louisiana. These things plus the great rates and location near White Sands Lake make this a no-brainer for those looking to camp during their visit to the area.

Admission to White Sands Lake and the onsite aqua park is $15 for those aged 12 and up. Kids aged 3–11 will pay only $10, and those 2 and under enter for free.
It should be noted that those who cannot swim—as well as kids under the age of 12—are required to wear a life jacket while in the park.
Food can be brought into the park for a picnic, but food is also sold onsite.
