RVING AT THE EVENT

You may want to rent an RV and camp while attending the Chicago RV & Camping Show. If you're considering buying an RV at the show, try renting a similar model to try out. See how it handles, what amenities it has, and whether it will suit your lifestyle before buying your own.

The show doesn't offer an onsite RVing experience, so you'll need to find a campground near Chicago. The closest facility to the show is Camp Reinberg, about 34 miles northwest in Palatine. This facility is run by the Cook County Forest Preserve and has heated cabins in addition to RV spots. Recreational opportunities include cross-country skiing, access to Deer Grove Hiking Trails and various activities at the nearby Crabtree Nature Center.

Camp Bullfrog Lake, about 22 miles southwest of Chicago in Willow Springs, is another year-round facility operated by the Cook County Forest Preserve. It is also within 30 minutes of the show and offers numerous recreational activities and programs, including fishing, kayak rentals and an accessible canoe landing. The campground is small and quiet, is pet-friendly and offers 50 miles of hiking trails.

MWR Navy Gateways Campground in North Chicago is a great choice for current and former military members, Department of Defense personnel and guests sponsored by anyone in those classifications. This facility is right on Lake Michigan, where guests can fish, and comes with a host of amenities, including a dump station, fire ring, bowling center, movie theater and firepits.
