The Best RV Shows in Delaware

By Jamie Cattanach

Nestled amongst the hustle and bustle of other northeastern states like Maryland and New Jersey, Delaware is a haven for outdoor adventurers and campers.

From the sandy beaches at Fenwick Island State Park to the fascinating fortress at Fort Delaware, this state offers so much to explore and see if you just take the time to do so!

After all, Delaware isn’t exactly the biggest or most renowned state in the country. At first glance, many might assume there’s nothing to do there. But curious visitors and home-grown Delawareans alike know that to be a misconception.

Along with stunning coastlines and historic buildings, Delaware also boasts world-class cuisine and culture in its cities. Enjoy 18th-century colonial landmarks like the Old State House in Delaware, or meander around Wilmington’s Riverfront district for a day of shopping and dining in style.

Another fun activity for your Delaware travels includes finding an RV camper show to attend. Although this state doesn’t host a huge number of travel trailer shows, the camping and outdoor expos it does have are well-known to include great bargains on RVs and camping equipment. Plus, meandering around an RV show is a great way to get acquainted with the larger camping community, as well as to learn more about a particular brand or make of RV that you’re interested in.

Kids love camping shows, too. There’s just so much to see and so many different people wandering around… not to mention the planned activities and interactive events many expos organize.

When you’re in the market for a new RV, you may still want to camp — which is when renting an RV in Delaware is a helpful option. You’ll find hundreds of different types of towable and drivable RVs available for rent through the peer-to-peer marketplace on RVshare.

Renting from a private owner is a great way to ensure your rental vehicle is both well taken care of and comfortably appointed. After all, these people actually vacation in these vehicles, too… which means you can expect things to be nice and cozy!

Renting an RV is also a great way to try out a variety of different types and styles of rig before you commit to purchasing one. Camping in a pop-up trailer is a very different experience than driving around a 40-foot Class A diesel pusher, for instance. And although there’s no one perfect RV, the best one for you and your family will depend on your personal travel style and preferences. It’s best to give a few different rigs a try before you make the large investment of purchasing one!

That’s another reason RV shows are so helpful. You’ll be able to walk through a bunch of different RVs to learn more about different producers and styles.

So when and where are the best camper shows in Delaware? Let’s find out.

1. Parkview RV Center’s Annual RV Show

Whether you’re in the market for a new motorcoach or a towable travel trailer, Parkview RV Center is a fantastic place to shop. One of the top RV dealers in Delaware, this company has a ton of five-star reviews from happy customers.

And even though it’s already the perfect place to find a great deal, you’ll do even better when you show up for their annual RV show in March, when they slash prices and strike incredible bargains for a whole week. They’ve been running this expo for more than 40 years, so you know they do it right!

Why you’ll love Parkview RV Center’s Annual RV Show

Parkview RV Center’s tagline says it all: this is an RV company “Where roughing it is not an option.” If you’re looking for the very best products at the very best prices, this Smyrna-based center won’t disappoint you.

Here are a few of Parkview RV Center’s impressive customer reviews:

  • “We had a problem with our travel trailer halfway to the Campground we were heading to for our vacation. Luckily, we were 5 minutes from this place when our wheel started smoking. They took our trailer in for service right away, had to order and pick up parts (bearings, brakes, and rotors), and had us on the road again several hours later. Everyone that worked there, in every department, was friendly and courteous, and even offered the kids ice cream as we were leaving. Will definitely consider driving 2 hours to come here for our next RV.” — Susan P, via Google Reviews
  • “The staff was very friendly. It felt like a family-owned business. We weren’t looking to buy yet, but they spent time answering questions and showing us around. I’d definitely return.” — Tahira Scott, via Google Reviews
  • “They are the friendliest and their service is outstanding. Love that place.” — Robert Lingenfelter, via Google Reviews

That’s how we know this company’s motorhome show is not to be missed. You’re already talking about a highly-regarded business, which then slashes its prices even further to satisfy thrifty customers. Win-win!

This all-inclusive outdoor show offers campers and adventurers over 70 vendor booths to explore, ranging from big outdoor outfitters like Cabela’s to representatives from Delaware’s State Parks Department. (What a great way to find new RV parks and destinations in Delaware!)

Last year, the show gave away such exciting goodies as a weekend stay at a Killen’s Pond cabin, high-quality fishing reels, and even a brand-new boat!

Obviously, Delaware isn’t the biggest state in the union — and it doesn’t have the largest number of camping shows to choose from. But the ones it does host are world-class and filled with all kinds of intriguing new vendors and activities to discover. Who knows? You might end up taking on fishing or hunting as your next new passion!

No matter where in the United States you’re based or when you’re looking to purchase a new RV or camping equipment, you can always find events going on locally that are coming up soon. A great way to stay on top of the latest planned activities is to Google “RV shows near me” — new ones are being put together all the time!

Finally, don’t forget that if you do live in a small state like Delaware, you have the added advantage of being able to reach other states quickly and easily. So if you’re looking for even more fun camping events to add to your calendar, don’t forget to check out what’s going on in your neighboring states, like Maryland, and New Jersey, or even big cities like New York and Philadelphia.

It’s never a bad time to turn a regular weekend into a vacation — and a camping show a few hours away might be the perfect excuse for your next getaway. Enjoy your time exploring new RVs and outdoor activities, no matter which shows you end up at!
