RV LED lights are very popular among those who live full-time in their RVs. Not only are they energy efficient, but their long life saves money over time. We’re here to give you the low down on changing the incandescent and halogen bulbs in your RV to highly efficient, energy-saving LEDs.
Research
Before you go out and buy a bunch of LED bulbs, it’s important that you determine what type of lighting you already have in your RV and the specific type of adapter on each light.
Most of the lightbulbs in RVS are either incandescents, halogens, or fluorescent tubes. Each type has a different kind of base, and yes, this does make things complicated if you have multiple types of lights. Take your time with this process and be sure you do your research.
Select
After you have taken inventory, you must select the replacement bulbs that you want to use. Consider the following purchasing LED bulbs.
- Color temperature (cool white, natural white, warm white)
- Desire brightness
- The style of bulb being replaced
Selecting the best replacement can be overwhelming. There are hundreds of styles to choose from, and each has different temperatures, brightness, and mechanical connectors. My suggestion? Always buy where they offer easy returns. When I converted to LEDs in my motorhome, the first ones I ordered were completely wrong and I had to send them all back. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it right the first time.
M4 LED Bulbs – A High-Quality Option
One popular type of LEC bulbs for RVs are the M4 products. Long-time RV experts, The RV Geeks, recently discussed the topic of RV LED lights on Do it Yourself RV.com and admitted their enthusiasm about M4 products. For good reason. With all the competition in the hot LED market, there is a lot to be said about the quality of products manufactured by M4.
Chinese LED bulbs may be popular because they are inexpensive, but they are cheaply made and are often low quality. The RV Geeks tried several different bulbs and were dissatisfied before discovering the M4 products.
They state that the number one thing to stand out is the support offered by the owner of M4 Products. The company is quick to respond to your important questions, and you are left with the feeling that they truly want you to be satisfied and be a customer for life.
The RV Geeks even got to meet visit M4 Products and meet the owner, Steve, face to face. They discovered that Steve willingly opens his doors to any customer online or offline. If you need help, he is there to share the answers with you. The RV Geeks learned a lot about LED lights and why cheap ones are not a good option. Admittedly M4’s light bulbs are on the pricier end, but you know you are getting a great quality product.
In the end, LEDs lights are a great choice for your RV. But it’s important to do your research and don’t simply buy the cheapest ones you can find.
