RV Rental Company Comparisons

If you want to see the country and have fewer hassles than you would booking hotel rooms, then renting an RV is the best way to go about it. Imagine not having to repack your bags or break down camp and drag everything to your car whenever you want to change locations. You can cook right in your RV’s kitchen and stop wherever you wish as long as you follow local ordinances. From boondocking in a Bureau of Land Management area to finding a spot in a luxury RV resort, you have fabulous choices. Remember that old bit about getting there being half the fun? When you rent an RV, it can even be more than that.

You have three choices for renting an RV. You can rent one from a big company, a local business, or another RVer through a peer-to-peer marketplace. You can access reliable vehicles with standard floor plans and prices if you choose a big company. The one worry you might have is that some of these companies don’t have offices in every state. Therefore, you could have to drive for quite a ways to pick up your RV. Local businesses have the advantages of being nearly everywhere and usually being able to offer RVs for terrific prices. However, they might not have the same number of choices regarding what you can rent.

The peer-to-peer model is the best overall option for most adventurers because you get access nearly everywhere, a large selection of RVs from which to choose, and competitive pricing. Plus, if you rent an RV from another RVer, then you can ask questions to learn about the places you’re planning to visit. You can also get tips and tricks about the RV you are renting. Best of all, you may even start a fast friendship and begin a network of RV enthusiasts with whom you can enjoy first-rate recreation.

Craigslist is not associated with RVshare. This page is simply an educational resource, providing more information on all RV rental options, including Craigslist.

About Craigslist

How it works: Craigslist.org is a peer-to-peer option for renting RVs. However, RV rentals are not Craigslist’s No. 1 priority, and the vast majority of people listing RVs on Craigslist are doing so to sell them and not rent them.

Serving travelers: Craigslist has users all over the United States.

Type of rental service: Craigslist is a peer-to-peer marketplace for many items and not just RVs.

Craigslist Reviews

Craigslist vs RVshare

Both companies seek to put buyers and/or renters in touch with sellers and/or owners. When it comes to Craigslist, the focus is extremely broad, covering every type of item and service people want to list. RV rentals are just a small part of the overall listings. Craigslist entries, when they exist, are helpful and fully detailed, giving you all the relevant information so that you can make a good decision. RVshare, on the other hand, focuses solely on RVs. RVshare’s online reviews are solid, too. The company is always updating the information on its website, which includes listings of state and national parks, monuments and historical parks, and scads of information from how to rent an RV to resort etiquette. The RV owners who use RVshare offer superb variety, including toy haulers, fifth wheels, Class A, B, and C motorhomes, pop-up trailers, and travel trailers.

One of RVshare’s best sources of information is how it sorts campgrounds into “Top 10 Lists” based on the city, park, or other area in question. That way, you can see if the campgrounds provide full hookups, access to a dump station, and other amenities. The website also helpfully links the web pages of the various campgrounds so that you have easy access.

Renting an RV is a fine way to see the country and take a family vacation. You’ll have all the comforts of home along for the ride. Remember, peer-to-peer is the easiest and most convenient way to rent an RV for your trip. RVshare prides itself on being one of the top peer-to-peer marketplaces where potential RVers can get in touch with owners. It also updates the information on all of the points of interest regularly, which is wonderful to have as you plan your trip. And, if you’re a first-time RVer, then you can check out RVshare’s handy guide for beginners. So, pack your stuff, get that RV, and head off on your vacation adventure.
