With two national parks in the state, Wyoming doesn’t disappoint with its magnificent waterfalls. Here are just 10 amazing waterfalls to check out.
1. Upper Falls
Kicking off our list are two incredible waterfalls located in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park. Upper Falls is the smaller of the two waterfalls at 110 feet, but it’s an amazing sight to see. You can view this waterfall from several areas. The first is Uncle Tom’s Point, which is a viewpoint near Uncle Tom’s Trailhead, located right near a parking lot. You can also see the waterfall from the platform at the Brink of the Upper Falls lookout.
Things to do near Upper Falls: One of great things about Yellowstone National Park is its proximity to Grand Teton National Park, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming where you can find skiing, shopping, and amazing food options. 2. Lower Falls
The second (and even more majestic) waterfall in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is Lower Falls. This waterfall is 308 feet tall and is one of the largest waterfalls in the national park. That’s double the height of Niagara Falls! There’s a viewing platform at the Brink of the Lower Falls, where you can take in the power and beauty of the falls. You can also see the falls from Artist Point, Lookout Point, and the more strenuous Uncle Tom’s Trail and Red Rock Point.
Things to do near Lower Falls: You’ll want to take advantage of your time in Yellowstone and explore the park, especially the Canyon Village area. But you’re also close to to Grand Teton National Park, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We’ve got you covered with great local RV rental options.
3. Shell Falls
Not all the of the amazing waterfalls in Wyoming are in Yellowstone. Shell Falls is located in Bighorn National Forest and was named for the shell fossils found in the canyon walls nearby. This gorgeous 120-foot tall waterfall drops 3,600 gallons of water per second, making it a powerful sight to behold. You can view the waterfall from the lookout point or explore the short loop trail. There’s also a visitor’s center where you can learn more about the waterfall.
Things to do near Shell Falls: Shell Falls is located on U.S. Highway 14, about 21 miles southwest of Burgess Junction, Wyoming. You can head through Bighorn National Forest to Sheridan, Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park is just over 130 miles west.
4. Hidden Falls
Visiting Grand Teton National Park? You’ll want to stop by Hidden Falls on Jenny Lake. This 100-foot waterfall is popular and easily accessible, so it may get crowded. To see the falls you can either hike around the southern shore of Jenny Lake, or take one of the frequent boat shuttles across the lake. The boat shuttle has a fee, but it cuts off several miles of hiking. Once you’re across the lake, follow the trail to Hidden Falls and admire the impressive waterfall.
Things to do near Hidden Falls: If you have more energy after getting the Hidden Falls, continue another half mile to Inspiration Point for incredible views of Jenny Lake and Jackson Hole. 5. Gibbon Falls
We’re heading back into Yellowstone National Park for our next waterfall. Gibbon Falls is along the Gibbon River in the northwestern part of the park. The 84-foot waterfall is located along the Grand Loop Road and has a parking lot near the top of the falls so you can easily pull off and park to see the view. Take the paved walking path from the parking lot to the lookout points to gape at this cascading waterfall.

6. Tower Fall
Another amazing waterfall in Yellowstone is Tower Fall. Located in the northeastern part of the national park on Tower Creek, this waterfall plunges 132 feet and is named for the impressive rock pinnacles that surrounds it. In fact, it was a painting of this waterfall that helped persuade Congress to make Yellowstone the first national park in 1872! While you can’t hike to the bottom of the falls anymore, you can view the massive waterfall from the Tower Fall overlook.

7. Kepler Cascades
In the southwestern park of Yellowstone National Park sits Kepler Cascades. This waterfall is on the Firehole River and is less than 3 miles from Old Faithful, making it an easy stop when you visit the park. The Kepler Cascades waterfall drops 150 feet over three tiers and can be seen from the viewing platform at the roadside stop, which is right next to the parking lot. The accessibility makes it one of the easiest of the many impressive waterfalls to view.
Things to do near Kepler Cascades: Since you’re so close, be sure to stop by Old Faithful to see the geyser. Then explore the rest of the national park, including the next waterfall on our list! 8. Mystic Falls
Mystic Falls is a waterfall on the Little Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park that cascades 70 feet. Take the Mystic Falls Trail, which is a 2.4 out and back trail, or you can continue to do a 3.5 mile loop to the falls as well as Biscuit Basin Overlook. It’s an easy to moderate trail that takes visitors through the forest past a few hot springs and hydrothermal areas to the rocky canyon where the waterfall rushes. If you take the Biscuit Basin trail, you’ll also get to see the Sapphire Pool and possibly watch the Jewel Geyser.

9. Undine Falls
Another great waterfall in Yellowstone National Park is Undine Falls. This easy to access waterfall is 60 feet tall and cascades down several tiers into a pool below. It’s located a few miles east of Mammoth Springs. There’s a parking area besides the road with a lookout area right there, so it’s a great waterfall to stop and see on your trip around the park. If you want to get closer, you can take the 1.8 mile out and back trail to see the upper and lower Undine Falls.
Things to do near Undine Falls: Located in the Mammoth Hot Springs area of Yellowstone, be sure to check out some of the hydrothermal features in the area like Mammoth Springs and Boiling River. There’s plenty of camping nearby, and we have a great selection of RV rentals for you to check out.
10. Firehole Falls
Last on the list is Firehole Falls in Yellowstone National Park. This 40-foot waterfall is located on the Firehole River and there are roadside pullouts to park and view the falls. Not only do you get to see an amazing waterfall at this stop, but there’s also a swimming area nearby! Firehole River Swimming Area is one of only two swimming areas inside Yellowstone and is located about a mile upstream from the waterfall. There are a few changing areas and a wooden staircase that takes you to the calmer section of the river designated for swimming.
