This campground is part of the Dixie Caverns, which is a naturally occurring cave in the mountain that stretches on for miles underground. The cavern will take some time to fully explore, and you’ll get to see the formation of living rock that slowly has been working over millions of years growing in every direction. When you’re done in the cavern, you can go relax on spacious campsites in a peaceful campground.
The campground is not only great for visiting the cavern but also makes an excellent home base for exploring the area. Roanoke is near other attractions like Civil War historical sites. The campground has some great amenities and wonderful staff that will assist you. This is a great alternative to Roanoke campgrounds if they’re unavailable.
“I’m sitting here on my shady site writing this review. We’re staying 3 nights while attending a convention in Roanoke. Yes, I hear the highway noise, but I also hear the many birds of the area and it is otherwise quiet and peaceful.” – Traveler, RV Park Reviews
