Like many of KOA campgrounds, Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA is designed with family fun in mind. Like many of the RV parks in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, area, there is lakeside entertainment and more than a few activities to keep the kids engaged. There’s just shy of 100 sites available, and the campground has both pull-through and back-in sites.
There’s a lot to do here. On the water, you can fish, rent a kayak or a tube, or just relax by the water. Pets are allowed at this KOA location, and there’s ample cell reception as well as Wi-Fi and cable television available for campers. The kids will absolutely love the jump pad as well.

Located in nearby Carlisle, PA, Western Village RV Park has more than 250 available sites for its guests. While this Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, campground technically isn’t within the city limits, Carlisle is just a short drive from the state capital. Situated on the pristine waters of Little Buffalo Creek, this state park is a great refuge for city dwellers that want to get back to ture. The park features 46 sites and offers a very reasoble pricing structure for those who want to stay for a while. The park also permits pets, and there’s even excellent cell phone reception.
There’s always something to do at this park throughout the year. In the winter, campers come for the cross-country skiing. If you come here in the warmer months, then you’ll absolutely love the fishing opportunities on the beautiful lake. There’s even a public boat launch that anyone can use to get in a little boating.

The park is run by the United Methodist Church, so it’s easy to understand that the campground is very peaceful, even during the nighttime. This campground is open from March through December, and during that time, there are a lot of activities and events to attend. During the warm summer months, swimming is available, and there are more than a few activities to be enjoyed on the nearby Susquehanna River. Mountain Creek Campground is a great place to camp in the Cumberland Valley area. This 100-acre campground is filled with over 200 tent and RV sites. Since the owners strive for the facility to be family oriented, there is plenty for the kids to enjoy as well.
Many of the on-site activities start with the creek that runs right through the center of the campground. Here, you can fish, kayak, canoe, or simply go tubing downstream. The Appalachian Trail is nearby, and there are also plenty of other hiking and biking options in the area. Fishing supplies are sold on-site if you need some bait or line to go fishing.

Colonel Denning State Park is perfectly positioned in Cumberland Valley. It is 8 miles north of Newville and about 9 miles south of Landisburg. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is the park offers plenty of hiking, fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities.
The park is comprised of over 173 acres of woodland full of hiking and camping opportunities. From this area, you can see Doubling Gap, which is an area where the Blue Mountains double back on themselves. There is also a lake that is 3.5 acres wide that campers can enjoy.
