Bryan, Texas is a city located in Brazos County. The city is situated in the east-central part of the state, about 100 miles northwest of Houston and 140 miles southeast of Austin. Bryan has a population of approximately 83,000 people. The history of Bryan can be traced back to 1821 when Moses Austin received a land grant from the Mexican government to settle 300 families in Texas. Austin's son, Stephen F. Austin, led the first group of settlers to the area in 1822. The town was initially named "Boonville" after Mordecai Boon, one of Stephen F. Austin's surveyors.

However, the name was later changed to "Bryan" in honor of William Jennings Bryan, who fought for the free silver movement during the late 19th century. Bryan was officially incorporated as a city in 1871. During the late 19th century and early 20th century, Bryan became a major center for agriculture and livestock production. The city also became known for its textile mills and brick kilns. In 1904, the first cotton gin in Brazos County was built in Bryan. The construction of the Houston and Texas Central Railway through Bryan in 1867 led to an economic boom for the city. This allowed for more accessible transportation of goods and increased trade with other parts of Texas and beyond. Bryan continued to grow throughout the 20th century, establishing several new industries and businesses.

There are many reasons to visit Bryan, Texas. The city is home to various businesses and attractions that appeal to various interests. The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is located here for those interested in history. Nature lovers can explore the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History or stroll Lick Creek Park.
