Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail

The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail runs across 14 different states since its 2019 extension. It originally ran from Wood River, Illinois, to present-day Astoria, Oregon, but it was extended to include sites used for preparation as far east as Pennsylvania. There are numerous sites along the trail that you will want to visit to learn more about the Lewis and Clark expedition, which lasted from 1803 to 1806. You can hike, boat or bicycle along the trail, which includes at least 75 sites that were important during the trip designed to explore the Louisiana Purchase, with the hopes of establishing friendly relationships with Native Americans and preparing the land for homesteading. This trail is headquartered at the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters and Visitor Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

How To Get To Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail

You can access the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail at many different locations along its 4,900-mile route. This trail is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. It is easy to reach that location from downtown Omaha by heading north on North 16th Street. Turn right on Cuming Street and get on Abbott Drive. Turn right on Riverfront Drive, and the center will be on your left.

Since being extended in 2019, the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail covers 4,900 miles with over 75 attractions along it. The main part of the trail starts in Wood River, Illinois and runs to Astoria, Oregon, which is 2,198 miles long. The National Park Service estimates that it would take three to four weeks to see everything along this trail. Therefore, you should bring your RV to make traveling easy.
