Rent an RV

Each year, college football fans gather at one of the most famous stadiums in the U.S. for the Rose Bowl — a popular sporting event with a long history in the country. Besides watching the teams compete, the event is known for having marching bands, rose-themed floats, and tailgating. It’s an event that the whole family can attend. If you’re heading to Pasadena, CA for the game, an RV will give you built-in seating for tailgating. This travel option may be more affordable than a hotel around the holidays and the Rose Bowl.

LOCATION

Both the stadium and the closest RV park to it are accessible from the CA-210 and CA-134 freeways. If you're not staying at Brookside Park, you'll want to leave from your campground early to get to the stadium. The roads getting into the stadium get congested on game day because of the large crowd the game brings. Moreover, you'll want to get there early if you're taking your RV to the stadium because the parking lot has limited spots in designated areas.

RVING AT THE EVENT

Are you interested in RVing to the Rose Bowl? You have some options, but you should know how to compare your options and how to set up if you stay at a dry site.

Where to Camp Near the Rose Bowl

Although spots are limited, you can stay at Brookside Park from December 28th through January 2nd, right beside the stadium. You'll be within walking distance of the stadium. However, this area is used only as an RV site for this event, so there are no hookups. If you'd rather not dry camp or aren't lucky enough to get a space in time, you can RV at Fairplex RV Park instead. It's only about 25 miles away from the stadium. It's right across the street from the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. In addition to water, sewer, and electric hookups, this RV park also has Wi-Fi. Another option is Action Camp LA RV Resort. When there’s traffic, you may have an hour or longer drive to the stadium from here. It has RV spots, glamping, tent camping, cabins, and teepees. This RV park has a bubble waterslide, movie nights, hayrides, and a pool. Full hookups are available.

RV Rental Tips for the Rose Bowl

As you're comparing your options, make sure you're planning for your entire family to enjoy the experience. Sometimes, a significant other might not be on board, and it'll take a little convincing. That's when finding a campground with all the amenities comes into play. And getting teens to be excited about RV travel is another challenge, but one that's achievable when you keep them engaged while on the road. Especially if this is your first time RVing, be aware of all the possible problems and how to mitigate your risks of anything going wrong. Additionally, if you're dry RVing, prepare your RV adequately so you have enough tank capacity, a plan of what to do when you can't run a generator overnight, and what to do about showering and water usage. Some campgrounds have either maximum or minimum stay lengths. Before you schedule an RV rental, you should also look into what RVs are allowed at the campgrounds. Most parks allow you to have a Class A, Class B, or Class C RV, but they may have restrictions on the sizes or features allowed.
