Rent an RVThe PGA Championship is one of the most looked-forward-to events on the golfing calendar, and many are highly anticipating their trip to the gorgeous Quail Hollow Club and its famed Green Mile - i.e. holes 16-18 - and taking in the breathtaking atmosphere that only a tournament like this can provide.
In fact, the PGA Championship, which is one of the sport's four major championships, has been contested on a nearly annual basis since 1916. It's held in a different locale every year, providing golf enthusiasts who regularly attend it with memorable visits to many of the country's most revered courses. As for the 2025 PGA Championship, it will be just the fourth to take place in North Carolina, with the three previous occurrences in 1936 (Pinehurst), 1974 (Clemmons) and 2017 (Charlotte).
Those who made the trip to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, last May for the 2024 PGA Championship got to see Xander Schauffele beat runner-up Bryson DeChambeau by a single stroke with a birdie on the 18th to claim his first major. ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT
Of course, your focus will most likely be on the golf, and one of the best elements of experiencing a tournament like this in person as opposed to on television or online is being able to watch exactly what you want to see. Do you prefer following your favorite golfer around the course? You can do that. Would you rather see how all of the professionals attack the intriguging and underrated 14th hole and instead stay there? That is an option as well. Or you can simply go with the flow and see where your heart takes you as the tournament progresses.
ON-SITE AMENITIES
There will be concession venues throughout the facility, and everyone with a Championship+ Ticket will have access to complimentary food and drinks, although note that alcoholic beverages are not included and must be paid for separately.
Otherwise, you can spend time at the on-site PGA Shops, view a large-scale replica of the Wanamaker Trophy, purchase an official program and take a break in the clubhouse.
LOCATION
Quail Hollow Club is located at 3700 Gleneagles Rd. in Charlotte, about 10 miles south of downtown.
LINEUP
Participants at the 2025 PGA Championship will include all interested past winners of the event, recent winners of other major tournaments, the best performers from the 2024 PGA Championship and other top golfers. In total, the starting field is expected to be comprised of 156 players.
RVING AT THE EVENT
With the 2025 PGA Championship taking place in a major city in Charlotte, there are numerous nearby RV park options to consider as your home for the week. Here are a couple that are both near the course and away from the busy downtown region, ensuring that your time in the area is relaxing and enjoyable:
• Just outside the city and state borders, in Fort Mill, South Carolina, is Crown Cove RV Park. Just seven miles from the course, it is situated in a peaceful, natural setting that is also near various shopping and dining options. The park is home to 166 sites with a bath house and laundromat while electricity, Wi-Fi, water and sewer are included in its rates. If you want all of the bells and whistles, this may not be the place for you, but it is a great option for simpler, relaxing stays.
• A little further away but also in Fort Mill is Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA Journey. It features a woodsy-but-near-civilization atmosphere as well. Meanwhile, if you are looking for an RV park that offers considerable amenities, this might be your choice since you can find laundry facilities, a pool, a picnic pavilion and mini-golf opportunities, the latter a perfect accompaniment to your golf-focused trip.
Wherever you decide to stay, whether at one of these prime options or another of the many selections that are available in the Charlotte metropolitan area, make sure to complete a reservation as soon as possible to ensure that space will be available for you this week.
WHERE TO STAY
Are you thinking of staying somewhere nearby that is not an RV park? You have several options as well. In fact, Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA can also fit this description as it provides cabins for rent. Otherwise, there are several hotels within a couple of miles of Quail Hollow Club, numerous ones to the north, such as Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark Hotel, and another large group to the southwest, including Extended Stay America Suites Charlotte - Pineville - Park Rd.
HOW TO GET THERE
If you are traveling to Quail Hollow Club from downtown Charlotte, the drive will be predominantly along Park Road before a turn left (east) on Gleneagles Road for the final mile of the journey.
PARKING
Parking on-site is expected to be very limited with complimentary bus transportation from a nearby off-site venue and from the Lynx light rail system's Sharon Road West station likely. Walking and biking to Quail Hollow Club are also options.
