RVING AT THE EVENT

When you aren’t enjoying the action at PHX Lights: Solar Sound System, you can kick back and relax in the comfort of your RV. While the Phoenix Raceway has several RV campgrounds, they only open for camping during NASCAR events. However, there are plenty of great RV parks nearby, including:

• Desert Shadows RV Resort: Desert Shadows RV Resort is a family-owned, top-rated RV park that offers 638 RV sites with full hook-ups and concrete patios. Its many amenities include fitness classes, bingo, pickleball, BBQ areas, aerobics classes and more.

• Covered Wagon RV Park: Covered Wagon RV Park is a smaller community with a relaxed vibe. The RV sites include paved pads and full hookups. The park amenities are restrooms with showers, a laundry facility and a swimming pool.

Here is what RVers should know:

• Camping options: Spring is a popular season for travelers to visit Phoenix, and many RV parks book up well in advance. Schedule your reservation early.

• Facilities and services: RV park amenities vary. Before making your reservation, review the availability of waste disposal services as well as water and electricity hookups. Also, look for essential amenities like a bathroom with showers and a laundry facility.

• Generator use: If your RV has a generator, take time to review the RV park’s rules for generator positioning, location and allowed operational times.

• Do-it-yourself shade: Shade is sparse in many areas of Phoenix. It may be wise to bring a canopy to use outside of your RV.

• Layered clothing: In April, Phoenix typically has high temperatures in the 80s. Lows can reach the 50s at night.
