There is nothing quite like the Imagine Festival, an eclectic blend of electronic digital music, yoga workshops, circus acts, aquatic themes and quirky antics that takes place at a longtime NASCAR racetrack that now also hosts a variety of events along with racing. The Atlanta Motor Speedway has hosted the annual Imagine Festival for several years, and the pairing works very well. Originally a two-day event, the festival is now spread over three days officially and four days unofficially if you include the early arrival available for 2020 on a Thursday. Each year sees new additions to the scheduled events, like more staged events for the campers, more stages and even a pool party. The camping village is not just a place for attendees to park their RVs and escape to their tents but has been incorporated into the festival in a truly immersive way. After-parties, wellness workshops and interactive games are all held in and around the campers after the main festival events are over for the day.
While you are crossing the racetrack back and forth to see your favorite musicians, you are constantly seeing new and fun acts like dancing paintbrush artists adding to their artwork during the weekend and actors on stilts dressed as underwater creatures. The splash pool is filled with floats for the cabana guests, and there is a huge game room with board games, video games, a ball pit and even strange gambling with some of the shows' crews. These events, while fun, are just the side acts. The true entertainment comes from headliners like Rezzz, Blunts and Blondes, Matoma, SVDDEN DEATH, Rusko and other well-known EMD artists. A truly must-see sight to catch is watching Shaq mix up his favorite tunes in a DJ booth. The end of the festival is closed with every kind of flying marvel you can think of like fireworks, lasers and confetti. As you leave, you'll already be planning a return for next year's festival.
There is always an incredible number of EDM artists performing on the multiple available stages at the Imagine Festival. Some of the past and present performers include musicians such as REZZ, Above & Beyond, Alison Wonderland, Zeds Dead, Marshmello, Shaq, KSHMR, Alan Walker, Seven Lions, Ghastly, K?D, Leah Culver, Said The Sky, Anna Lunoe, Dr. Fresch, J. Phlip, Louis The Child, Tipper, Cherub, Darude and Reid Speed.
The Imagine Festival is held each year at the Atlanta Motor Speedway south of Atlanta at 1500 Tara Place, Hampton, Georgia. It has traditionally hosted NASCAR Cup Series races since its opening season in 1960. The track is 1.54 miles long, and various types of races are held here.
Camping is highly encouraged at the Imagine Festival, and many of the activities, workshops, and parties are planned around the campers. Most events held at the speedway provide for camping and parking in an RV. At the Imagine Festival, you can purchase an early arrival pass and arrive on Thursday, a day before the actual festival, to set up your camping site and get ready for all the fun. For 2020, this early arrival includes full music programming on the Disco Inferno. You can purchase separate passes for various types of camping and RV access and sites at the festival's ticket page. Other perks and amenities for campers include access to the Silent Disco Afterparty in the campgrounds, yoga and other wellness workshops, a craft and food area, showers and restroom facilities.
Most of the camping area is for tents, but there are also RV sites for your rental RV from RVshare, with 50-amp electricity but no sewer lines. Water is available and is shared between sites. Be aware that there are restrictions on vehicle movement once you have parked at your parking site. There is a general store with basic supplies, snacks, and camping amenities. You can purchase items ahead of time at the Unity Travel website and pick them up at the campgrounds. New for 2020, car camping passes are now sold on a per-car basis, not per person. You can also purchase a tent-only pass and additional companion passes.
