*The U.S. Cellular 250 Race ran every summer between 2009-2019.

The U.S. Cellular 250 is a NASCAR Xfinity Series race that has been raced at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, every summer since 2009 either in late July or early August. U.S. Cellular has been the sponsor every year and has paired with different presenting companies along the way. The race is 250 laps and 218.75 miles. The Xfinity Series is the more amateur level of NASCAR but features both racers from the NASCAR Cup and the Xfinity series. The races use a three-round format that is similar to the NASCAR Cup brackets. After each of the first two rounds, the four drivers with the fewest overall season points are eliminated from Chase competition. The final Championship 4 race begins with the last four drivers still in contention receiving 4,000 points as a reset. The racer with the highest points in this final race wins the NXS title.

Iowa Speedway is known as The Fastest Short Track on the Planet and is a 7/8-mile state-of-the-art tri-oval track that is paved with asphalt. Besides hosting other events, the racetrack holds three race weekends over the summer that include pairings of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Iowa 200 and NASCAR Xfinity Series Iowa 250, the ARCA Menards Series Iowa 150 and NTT IndyCar Series Iowa 300, and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Iowa 150 and NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250.

This exciting racing season concludes with the doubleheader of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Iowa 150 and the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250. The U.S. Cellular 250 usually airs on CNBC, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. The races attract some of the best NASCAR drivers and their attendant fans, and there are always new and upcoming drivers to see as well. The atmosphere at the Iowa Speedway is part of the fun, with great food, friendly fan competitions, and new acquaintances all contributing to an outstanding weekend of entertainment.

ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT

Starting in 2017, Iowa Speedway is partnering with Americrown Service Corporation, a leader in major motor sports concessions. Americrown is providing new food and beverage items, including two signature food items, pork fries, and Iowa dogs. Pork fries are crispy fried pig ears that are served with hot sauce and a side of ranch, and Iowa dogs are all-beef hot dogs with meat, corn relish, and blue cheese crumbles on a roll. There are also signature drinks, like the Trading Paint, Gas N' Go, Carburit, and the Blood Orange Breeze. The 7/8 Wheat is a craft beer, provided by the Iowa-based Peace Tree Brewing Co.

There are also fun oversized games that are available periodically during the racing season events. These games include such fun competitions like pool played with your feet on a giant pool table, giant checkers, and oversized corn hole. When offered, these games are free to race-day ticket holders.

RVING AT THE EVENT

The Iowa Speedway offers RV and tent camping options at their facility, which is a great way to stay in the thick of it all while staying in either a rental RV from RVshare or your own motorhome. There are two campground options: Terrace Camping and General Camping. The Terrace Camping site offers full hookups, and the General Camping site is dry camping. Camping is available all year and is offered long term seasonally. You can reserve your sites online or by calling the ticket office at (866) 787-8946. Tent camping is located inside the General Camping campground and is on a first-come, first-served basis. For race weekends and for longer periods, sites must be reserved prior to race days.
