Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway
The Freeway Insurance 500 is a NASCAR Cup Series playoff race held at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. The 2026 race is scheduled for October 18. Renting an RV in Phoenix is one of the best ways to experience the weekend. You can camp within minutes of the track, skip the daily commute, tailgate before every session and have a handy place to decompress. ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT
The NASCAR Fan Zone will be set up just outside the track and includes driver meet-and-greets, Q&A sessions and exclusive merchandise. If you want to upgrade your ticket, you can take part in the Desert Diamond Casino Infield Experience. This option gives you an up-close view of drivers and crews and access to exclusive areas. There’s typically a pre-race concert, but performers have not been announced for the 2026 Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway.
ON-SITE AMENITIES
Phoenix Raceway has multiple concession stands that are open throughout the race weekend. There are also shaded areas in the Fan Zone where you can cool off. The track also offers shaded dining options, such as the Busch Light Beer Garden and the Portacool Chill Zone. Rattlesnake Hill, the famous knoll overlooking the track, is a general admission area that provides great views of the track.
LOCATION
Phoenix Raceway is located at 7602 Jimmie Johnson Dr., Avondale, AZ 85323. The track is easily accessed by I-10. Fans usually take Exit 126 or Exit 128. Phoenix Raceway is one of the most popular tracks on the schedule, so you should expect some traffic, especially if you get into town on Friday or Saturday. Vineyard Road leads directly into the gates from Estrella Parkway. Even though the race is in the fall, you should still expect temperatures in the mid 80s. Make sure that you stay hydrated and spend some time in the provided shaded areas throughout the weekend. If you have time, there are some nearby Phoenix attractions that you can enjoy over the course of the weekend. Coldwater Golf Course welcomes golfers of all experience levels, and Uptown Jungle Fun Park is fun for the whole family.
RVING AT THE EVENT
If you’re booking a campground for the Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway, you have four on-site campgrounds to choose from. Each campground is set up for different types of campers, ranging from Class A RVs to fifth-wheel trailers. Where to Camp Near the Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway
If you don’t want to camp at the track, there are some great nearby campgrounds. They include: • Destiny RV Resort: This campground offers free Wi-Fi and has 20-, 30- and 50-amp hookups available. • Deer Valley RV Park: While this campground is about 30 miles from the track, it’s an award-winning location. The 205 sites offer full hookups. • Desert Shadows RV Resort: This location is also around 30 miles from Phoenix Raceway. It offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities if you don’t want to spend the entire weekend at the track.
RV Rental Tips for the Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway
None of the on-site campgrounds has hookups. Jim’s Water Truck Services offers water to campers at every campground. Pump trucks are constantly driving around the campgrounds, so you can flag down a driver at any time for service. There are three shower locations that campers can use for free. You can also rent a portable restroom for your campsite. You can bring any type of RV to camp at the fall NASCAR race. HOW TO GET THERE
Phoenix Raceway is in Avondale, west of Phoenix. Keep in mind that race-weekend traffic patterns could affect the final approach to the track, so follow your camping or parking pass directions. From Phoenix: Take I-10 W toward Avondale From Scottsdale: Take Loop 101 S to I-10 W From Los Angeles: Take I-10 E toward Phoenix From Albuquerque: Take I-40 W, then I-17 S toward Phoenix From Las Vegas: Take U.S. 93 S toward Phoenix, then connect to I-10 W
PARKING
Phoenix Raceway offers multiple parking options. There’s free general admission parking just off I-10. You can also find paid parking options, including El Mirage Parking, Preferred Parking and Premium Parking. If you purchase a wheelchair-accessible ticket, you will receive one Reserved Accessible Parking Pass per account. The parking pass is digital and can be accessed through the Account Manager portal on the website.
TICKETS & PRICING
Tickets for the Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway start at $10 and go up to $1,486 for the NASCAR One Fueled by Elevate experience. Pack water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and layers so that you can move between your campsite, the Fan Zone, Rattlesnake Hill and the grandstands without too many trips to the RV. • Day 3: Make Sunday your Freeway Insurance 500 day. Leave your campsite early, expect traffic around the track, and keep your RV stocked for a relaxed postrace meal before you pack up. If you are staying another night, use Monday morning for cleanup, dumping tanks if needed and making an easier departure from the campground.
