At the NASCAR All-Star Race, you can cheer on your favorite driver, camp in your RV, and experience all the racing-themed events that take place during the weekend. The race itself takes place on Sunday, May 18, 2025. It's for all drivers who won races in the previous season and the drivers who have won races during the current season up to the date of the event.
The first NASCAR All-Star Race took place in 1985. The format has changed over the years, and today, it's made up of three segments that each have different rules regarding who wins. The program will explain all of the ins and outs of the race to you.
On May 17, 2025, there's a Craftsman Truck Series Race. On May 18, 2025, in addition to the NASCAR All-Star Race, there's a Whelen Modified race. Throughout the weekend, there are also races featuring zMax cars.
In addition to the on-site RV lots, there are restrooms, information booths, first-aid stations, and security posts. You'll also find plenty of places around the track to grab a meal or a cold drink. If you pay to upgrade your status to VIP, there's exclusive seating available to you.
The NASCAR All-Star Race happens at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, the address of which is 381 Speedway Lane, North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, 28659. Route 421 is the only road that leads to the speedway, so it'll likely be packed during the weekend. Always leave ample time to get where you need to go.
The lineup of specific races between May 16, 2025, and May 18, 2025 will be posted on the website, so keep an eye on it to get the latest information.
You can camp in your RV at the event. There are four designated RV camping lots: Lot A, Lot B, Lot C, and Trackside Camping. You have to check in on May 12 and check out on May 19, so you'll get a discounted weekly rate rather than seven daily rates. There are both dry campsites and campsites with full hookups available. Communal potable water, showers, and restrooms are available for an extra fee.
The closest RV campground with a confirmed dump station is Raccoon Holler Campground, which is 22 miles from Wilkesboro. The campground opens at the end of April, so both the dump station and the RV campsites are available. The campground provides hot showers, full restrooms, laundry facilities, and a dog run, among other amenities.
If you don't own an RV, then you can find an RV rental on RVshare. When the time comes to return your rented RV to the owner, be sure to complete all nine of these steps to return your RV without any hassles.
In May in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, the weather is cooler than you might expect. The temperature ranges from roughly 50 F at night up to 77 F or so during the day. When the weather isn't as hot as you expect, remember that the sun can still burn you. Take sunblock with you to the race or to other outdoor events. Wicking clothing will stay drier than almost any other clothing when you sweat. Always wear loose clothing that allows air to circulate, and protect your eyes with dark sunglasses. If you don't like putting sunblock on your face, then you can shield your skin with a wide-brimmed hat. It's also a good idea to have lots of water in your RV so that you can stay hydrated.
If a bed-and-breakfast is your thing, then one of the closest options is the Buffalo Tavern, which is 37 miles away in West Jefferson. In addition to daily breakfast, you can ask the staff to pack you and your family a picnic lunch to enjoy in the surrounding area. If water activities seem like fun to you, then it's just a 20-minute drive to the New River where you can go tubing.

From Winston-Salem: Take Route 421 west out of the city. Continue on that road, and follow the signs for the North Wilkesboro Speedway.
From Charlotte: Drive north on Route 77 until you reach the junction with Route 421. Follow Route 421 west, and watch for signs for the speedway.
From Greensboro or Raleigh: Proceed west on Route 40 until you reach Route 421 east of Kernersville. Get on Route 421 west, and proceed through Winston-Salem and on to the North Wilkesboro Speedway. Be sure to watch for the applicable signs.
Other than the lots already assigned for RV camping, there are three lots assigned for parking: Lot 1, Lot 2, and Lot 5. You can buy parking for a single day or for the whole weekend as you prefer. The rates are different based on the day, so make sure that you check the website before either arriving or buying parking passes.
You can get tickets through Ticketmaster. You can select single-day tickets or weekend passes. There are different levels of tickets available, and the prices vary by day and section where you plan to sit for the race.
Although the NASCAR All-Star Race isn't a race that will generate points for the drivers' championship, it's still a fun exhibition of the best drivers' skills and daring. In addition to the NASCAR All-Star Race, there will be other races in different classes during the weekend. Now, let's go racing!
