The 50th State Fair is a beloved Hawaiian tradition, bringing families and visitors together each year for thrilling rides, delicious food, and live entertainment. As the only fair of its kind in Hawaii, it draws attendees from across the islands and around the world.

The fair traces its roots back to the 1930s when it was originally called the 49th State Fair, a nod to Hawaii's hopes of becoming the next U.S. state. However, after Alaska beat them to the 49th spot in 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state later that year, and the fair's name was updated to reflect this historic milestone. What began as a small trade show showcasing local farmers, artists, and inventors has since grown into a full-scale fair with carnival attractions, cultural exhibits, and exciting performances.

The event takes place at Aloha Stadium, Hawaii's largest outdoor venue, located in Halawa, near Honolulu. Best known as the former home of the University of Hawaii football team and the iconic Pro Bowl, the stadium has hosted countless concerts, sporting events, and community gatherings. Its expansive grounds provide the perfect setting for the fair's lively atmosphere, ensuring plenty of space for rides, games, and food vendors.

Attending the 50th State Fair is not just about fun. It's a chance to experience Hawaii's unique culture from traditional crafts and cuisine to modern entertainment. Whether you're interested in island-inspired treats, trying your luck at carnival games, or watching live performances, the fair offers something for everyone.

ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT

The 50th State Fair offers fun for all ages. Thrill-seekers can enjoy exciting rides like the Sling Shot and the Wacky Worm Coaster. However, be prepared for long wait times, especially for the Sling Shot, as it has become a popular attraction with evening crowds.

The petting zoo is a must-see for families, offering a chance to get up close with friendly animals. Additionally, special characters roam the grounds, providing plenty of opportunities for fun photos and interactions.

Live music performances from some of Hawaii's top local acts take place on the weekend days, adding to the lively atmosphere. You can also enjoy carnival games and various exhibitions showcasing local culture, agriculture, and art.
