Petersburg Campground is located near a lovely lake that is just four miles from the Thurmond Dam. The 70,000-acre lake gives campers a great spot to swim, boat, fish, and enjoy other water sports. Hiking and picnicking opportunities abound.
Petersburg Campground features pine and hardwood forest throughout. Enjoy seeing eagles, waterfowl, deer, and wild turkeys while you’re camping. Fishermen can hope to catch bass, bream, catfish, and crappie, and hikers can select from the 1.8-mile Lake Springs Loop and a 27-mile trail that wanders along the shore and through an adjacent park.
“Words can’t describe how much we love camping at Petersburg Campground. The sites are large with lots of room between them and plenty of shade (at most sites). The only thing that could add to our trips would be a nature trail…the kids can only swim for so many hours a day.” – Emily, from Google Review
