Why Celebrate Valentine’s Day in an RV?

First, let’s talk a little bit about why you might want to celebrate Valentine’s Day in an RV. After all, your RV is probably still winterized, so you need good reason to pull it out, right? Well, we’re pretty sure the reasoning below will be good enough to convince you to pull that motorhome or trailer out of storage (or rent one for the occasion).

Get Close and Cuddly

There’s no denying the fact that RVs are tiny living spaces. This means you have to be pretty close and cozy with the people you are staying with in the trailer or motorhome.

In some cases this isn’t always a good thing, but when it comes to Valentine’s Day and the person you love most, it is absolutely ideal. You’ll have an excuse to be snuggled up the entire time you’re away, and you’re sure to really reconnect in such a small space.

Break Up Winter Boredom

By now, wintertime boredom has almost certainly struck in your house. Nobody likes being cooped up for months at a time, and spending too many winter days at home might just drive a person insane. A winter camping trip is sure to be much appreciated, as it will break up the winter boredom with something fun and exciting.

Visit Romantic Places

Spending Valentine’s Day in an RV gives you the ability to travel anywhere. Our suggestion? Go somewhere romantic. Fortunately, there are plenty of romantic places in the country, meaning you’re sure to find something that suits your tastes.

Want to sleep under the stars and enjoy beautiful views? An RV allows you to do that. Prefer the lights and romantic restaurants of the big city? An RV can go there too.

Make the Holiday Memorable

The best thing about heading out in your RV for Valentine’s Day? The holiday is sure to be memorable. Considering this holiday is one that often gets forgotten or glossed over, we think Valentine’s Day deserves to be memorable, and being the camping fanatics we are, we think an RV trip is the perfect way to ensure it is.

Kids with a Valentine

Family Valentine’s Day

In an ideal world, we could all escape with just our significant others on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, this isn’t always possible for those of us who have kids. Finding a sitter can be difficult and expensive, especially when it’s for the duration of a camping trip. Not only that, but many kids and parents don’t necessarily want to be apart for more than a day or so.

Luckily, there are still ways to have fun on a Valentine’s Day RV trip with the kids.

Go on a Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt

Nature walks are always a fun family activity, especially while camping in a beautiful place. To make your nature walk Valentine’s Day-themed, consider doing a heart scavenger hunt while you walk.

Heart-shaped leaves can be found in many wooded areas, but if you aren’t confident that nature will provide hearts to find, you could always venture down a trail in advance to plant some paper hearts for the kids to collect. Another option is to simply look for red things in nature instead.

Create a Valentine’s Day Nature Craft

While you’re out walking, go ahead and gather some craft supplies. Nature offers up some of the very best items for crafting with, and there are tons of amazing Valentine’s Day nature crafts you and your kids can enjoy together.

The heart leaf lanterns and pinecone love bugs are two of our favorites on this list, but really, anything you gather and make together will be special.

Make Valentine’s Day S’mores

Every evening spent camping should include a campfire, and in our opinion, every campfire should include s’mores. Now, you could just make regular s’mores and we doubt your kids would complain, but it’s actually pretty easy to make your Valentine’s s’more extra special.

To make Valentine’s Day s’mores you will need:

Toast your pink marshmallow, place it on a cookie, top the marshmallow with chocolate, and cover the whole creation with another cookie. The result is delicious, adorable, and perfect for celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Have a Family Game Night

Why not play some games while enjoying your Valentine’s Day s’mores? We love these Valentine’s Day mad libs from Woo! Kids Activities. They are perfect for when you’re sitting around a campfire, and are sure to result in some laughs.

Couple’s Valentine’s Day

If you do manage to get away with just your partner, or if you find yourself with some time after the kids go to bed, you will probably want to find ways to have some more grown-up fun. Fortunately, there are lots of romantic ways to have a good time when camping.

Share a Meal

One of the things we love most about RV camping is the ability to take an entire kitchen anywhere. For this reason, we are all for taking full advantage of your tiny kitchen and making a romantic meal during your Valentine’s Day getaway.

Whether you make a pasta dish, a nice steak, or some seafood, you and your significant other are sure to love dining together. If the weather is nice, you could set up outside and eat under the stars. Too cold outside? Get cozy at the RV table and dine by candlelight with a pretty view out the window.

Build a Campfire

As mentioned above, no camping trip is complete without a campfire. Not only that, we find that campfires are pretty darn romantic too. Your loved one is sure to love snuggling up next to the beautiful flames and talking about life with you. Add some wine, this awesome camp couch, and a comfy blanket to the mix to make things a bit more romantic.

Have an Outdoor Movie Night

If the fire isn’t enough to keep you entertained, you could also enjoy a movie together. There are dozens of great romantic comedies that are just perfect for Valentine’s Day. Throw one of these up on the side of the RV using a projector and add in sound with a Bluetooth speaker, and you’ll have your very own outdoor theater.

This is the perfect option for parents looking for ways to have a date after the little ones are asleep.

Go for a Romantic Hike or Walk

Finally, a camping trip is the perfect opportunity to go on a romantic hike or walk with your partner. Depending on where you park, you might just have some seriously gorgeous views, and even if your campsite doesn’t offer good views, you can probably drive to a nearby national park for some pretty scenery.

Some of the best places for romantic walks include the beach, lush wooded areas, and places with beautiful vistas. Timing your walk to coincide with sunset might make it even more romantic and beautiful.

Romantic Destinations

What you do at your campsite matters, of course, but what might be even more important is where you take the RV for your special trip. Below are some of the best places to travel for Valentine’s Day. Choose one of these romantic getaways and you’re sure to have an amazing time enjoying the company of the person you care about most.

Hershey, PA

Chocolate is a huge part of Valentine’s Day, so why not celebrate the holiday in the chocolate capitol? Hershey, Pennsylvania is all about chocolate, and it’s chock-full of super fun things to do.

Hersheypark is a great place to spend a day if you enjoy thrill rides or need to entertain the whole family. Meanwhile, history buffs will appreciate The Hershey Story museum. Couples enjoy dining at The Mill, and you can finish off your meal with as much chocolate as your heart desires.

If you have extra time, we also recommend a visit to the nearby town of Lititz, which boasts local chocolate shops and cute boutiques and eateries, and is the ideal setting for a romantic walk.

Napa, CA

Prefer wine over chocolate? Napa, California might be the best Valentine’s Day destination for you. Beautiful views can be found around every corner in this area of the country, and camping options are plentiful.

Couples love visiting the area’s many wineries and participating in wine tastings, and the many delicious restaurants in the area help round things out. Want an extra special treat? Take a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train.

St. Augustine, FL

St. Augustine, Florida is also a lovely choice, and is particularly awesome for those couples looking to escape the cold.

During your time in the city, be sure to take a walk down Cordova Street to enjoy the shops and restaurants found there. The beautiful beaches and amazing historic sites in the area offer plenty of ways to spend time together, and a kiss under the “love tree” is a must.

Can’t make it to one of these romantic destinations? Try searching “weekend getaways near me” to see what options you might have closer to home.

No matter where you end up or what you end up doing, be sure to enjoy spending time with your loved ones on your Valentine’s Day adventure!
