Beeds Lake State Park is within 30 miles of Mason City. The park sits on the south side of the lake, providing a panoramic view of blue lake water, green grass and dark green oak leaves beneath an incredibly open sky. Beeds Lake is fed by Spring Creek, which keeps a steady flow of pure and clean water flowing into the lake, making angling a capital sport here.
The fishing at Beeds Lake is incredible and remains so year-round. A two-mile hiking trail follows the lake shore and leads to the beautiful dam that creates the lake. On hot days, visitors are often seen below the dam’s causeway, soaking in the mist as water flows down the limestone surface. The Dam in Beeds Lake State Park is said to be the most photographed dam in the Midwest.
“Beeds is a well maintained campground with really nice bath houses, fishing, and some nice trails. The lake features a unique dam/spillway that provides decent fishing opportunities for those of us without boats! If there is a drawback to this campground it is that several electric sites are directly across from each other so it limits the feeling of seclusion but there are a few that are a bit more private if you can get them. We’ll definitely be back again.” -Michael, Google Review
