RV Rentals in Kenai Peninsula, AK Plan your next adventure

In Summary

The Kenai Peninsula is comprised of 15,000 square miles of almost untouched wilderness and an easy drive from Anchorage. It is often called Alaska’s Playground, and there is a good reason for this. It is loaded with majestic mountains, beautiful valleys, and sparkling clear lakes and rivers, and it is one of the best fishing destinations in the world.

The peninsula is also famous for wildlife sightings where you may see bears, moose, caribou, sea lions, whales, bald eagles and many more creatures living and playing in their natural habitat.

There are only two major roads on the peninsula: the Seward Highway and the Sterling Highway. The roads are well-maintained, and four-wheel drive is not needed during the summer months. For RV rental enthusiasts, the Kenai Peninsula is a virtual paradise with many RV campgrounds and parks along the way. Some have full facilities, including satellite TV, and most have dumping stations, hot showers, laundry facilities and firewood. You may find a few sites tucked away in the wooded areas along the beach or rivers that have fewer facilities but offer a more secluded experience. Some RV parks and campgrounds are near golf courses and larger cities where there are other attractions, but visiting the wilderness is the main reason to see the Kenai Peninsula.

The Kenai is one of the few places in the world where visitors and locals alike face the elements. Whether you are walking on a glacier or pulling in the biggest fish you have ever seen, you will feel the wind on your face and know you are as close to nature as you can get. The Kenai Fjords National Park can take you back in time 10,000 years to the last Ice Age. The Kachemak Bay State Park can only be reached by water taxi from Homer at the southern end of the peninsula.

You can select an RV park that caters to fishing, sightseeing or seclusion according to the type of vacation you have planned.
