If you're heading off-site, Historic Downtown Mystic features a variety of delicious eateries, shops and museums.
Grandview CampResort
This is a clean, safe, and affordable park for families. Only 6.7 miles from Gillette Castle State Park, it makes a great home-base for the castle and other neighboring attractions. Located on 22.5 acres, the campground offers an excellent view of the Connecticut countryside.
Salem Farms Campground
Located on 157 acres in rural Salem, Salem Farms Campground offers plenty to do. Swim in 2 pools, play on the playgrounds, play miniature-golf, Bocce, volleyball, badminton, basketball, tennis, horseshoes, or shuffleboard. Nature trails, lakes, ponds, and streams are only minutes away.
Wolf’s Den Family Campground
Located on 35 acres on the scenic Connecticut River Valley, the Wolf’s Den Family Campground offers family fun throughout the season. The property offers fishing, swimming, a playground, recreation hall & arcade, miniature golf, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, and horseshoes, along with seasol activities. This is a great place to stay and only 2 miles away from Gillette Castle State Park.
Markham Meadows Campground
Markham Meadows Campground is a family friendly campground located 11 miles and 21 minutes away from Gillette Castle. There are two ponds for fishing, free paddleboating, and free kayaks. Kids will enjoy the playscape, arcade, and pool. You’ll find lots to keep you busy. This makes a great home-base while visiting area attractions.
Nelson Family Campground
Located on 175 acres in the heart of central Connecticut, the Nelson Family Campground is well placed for use as a home-base while visiting nearby attractions. The Gillette Castle State Park is 15.4 miles away. The campground offers plenty to do: a 60′ swimming pool, recreation hall, pool tables, ticket redemption games, basketball, volleyball, mini-golf, hiking, and fishing. There is a 540 acre lake only 1/4 mile away for boating.
Rocky Neck State Park
18 miles and 30 minutes away in East Lyme, Rocky Neck State Park has something for everyone. Soft sandy beaches, picnic areas, train watching, hiking trails, and salt marsh viewing platforms make this park unique. Try area saltwater fishing and crabbing.
Odetah Camping Resort
Odetah Camping Resort offers much to do. A secluded 32 acre lake offers boating, fishing, picnicing, and sunbathing on the beach. Bring your own small boat: electric trolling motors and sails are welcome, no gas motors. You’ll enjoy mini-golf, volleyball, basketball, tennis, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. A pool and splashpad are big hits with the kids. Odetah Camping Resort is just under 20 miles from the Gillette Castle.

Riverdale Farm Campsites are located off of a winding country road and are close to the Hammonasset River. As part of a 100-acre colonial farm, the sites are spacious. Various events occur throughout the year and are paired with recreational facilities.
