The best part of traveling is doing something unexpected and having it be the highlight of your adventure.
This year, I parked my home on wheels for 3 weeks (at my family’s house) and took a plane ride across the pond to beautiful England. I went to visit another avid traveler who I have traveled with before in my RV. This time, we planned a road trip across the English Countryside, staying in cottages, bungalows, and hotels along the way.
One part of our road trip that wasn’t originally planned, but came as a pleasant surprise, was staying in my first tiny home in an international country. And this wasn’t just any tiny home, these were located in a beautiful campground that also had room for RV and tent camping.
I was over the moon excited to have the chance to stay in a tiny home that had a lot of similar features to my RV home on wheels.
High Moor Farms Campground
Located in the lush countryside of Nottington, High Moor Campground will take your breath away. On our drive there, the scenery was full of rolling green hills that move with the wind, cute cottages, and wildflowers. The campground is perfectly located for anything you want to see along the Jurassic Coast. It’s only a 10 minute drive to beautiful Weymouth Bay, full of delicious mom-and-pop restaurants, seaside views, amazing thrift shops, and more.
Arriving at High Moor Campground, you are greeted by a cute farm shop. Inside, they offer delicious cookies, snacks, groceries, and camping accessories. Around the corner from the Farm Shop is where the magic happens, with a Vintage Marquee Bar open in the evening, along with local live music on the weekends and great food vendors.
The campground has open space for campers and tents with plenty of room for the whole family. They offer electric hookups and boondocking. They also offer a selection of tiny homes that are perfectly spaced and surround the campground.
High Moor also comes with nice amenities, a laundry room, wash room for dishes, and clean, spacious facilities that are easy to access from any part of the campground.
What I enjoyed most about Higher Moor Farm Campsite was the family-friendly atmosphere. There’s an indoor game room and a football (soccer) field for the kids to enjoy while the parents hang out and enjoy a relaxing holiday.
Tiny Home Pods
Because my home on wheels was parked many, many miles away, we had the chance to try out High Moor’s tiny homes they call Pods. When we walked up to our new home for 3 nights, I fell in love with the beautiful glass french doors. You can easily open them up and give the space more airflow and light. The window and doors are complimented with nice white and black-out curtains for more privacy.
The best feature of the pods was the spacious bathroom. The showers are well built and have the perfect water pressure. I could have showered there for hours. The bathrooms came with a heated towel rack and plenty of storage space to keep all of our toiletries.
While nights in England can be on the cooler side, each pod comes with a heated furnace, making it nice and toasty throughout the night, along with a comfortable bed to match.
The campground at night was quiet and peaceful. The pods are nicely insulated, so we didn’t hear much outside noise once the doors were closed. In the morning, it was nice opening up the doors and letting the natural light come in while having a cup of coffee on the front deck. Where we were located, we had a great view of the campground and the rolling country hills. The pods are so cozy and nice to relax in, we spent most of our time inside, with the doors open, enjoying our tiny home experience.
How Tiny Homes Compare to RVs
What makes these tiny homes so unique was the similar quality and materials you would find in a traditional RV. The tiny homes at High Moor Farms are made by a British company called Swift Group. They specialize in British Holiday Homes, Caravans and Motorhomes. You can instantly tell these tiny homes were made with comfort, quality, and practicality in mind.
The experience of living in a tiny home in a different country was the highlight of my England trip. As a tiny home enthusiast, it was interesting to see how their tiny homes differ from United States tiny homes. There’s so much we can learn from each other. The campground at High Moor Farms was a wonderful experience. I met so many wonderful people and had the chance to chat with English full-time RVers.
If you are visiting England, I would recommend High Moor Farm Campground as a destination on your list!
Till Next Time!
