North Platte River

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Wyoming Bureau of Land Management maintains over 18 million acres of public land for recreational and educational use. The spectacular Wyoming wilderness and cultural sites are preserved for our enjoyment and the benefit of future visitors. As you travel the area, do an Internet search for "BLM camping near me" for specific information about camping availability, reservations, and fees.

The North Platte River is a waterway renowned for fishing. Rated a Class 1 Fishery, the river supports three species of trout. If you are not an angler, duck hunting, hiking, biking, river floating, and wildlife viewing are popular attractions in the region. There are several lakes, trails, and campgrounds in the surrounding area.

Leave No Trace Leaf

Those who love nature and spend time in it must make an effort to minimize our impact on it. The Platte River, like all waterways, is sensitive to man's impact. Every loose water bottle or food wrapper that gets away from us adds to the pollution problem. An unattended campfire is a potential wildfire waiting to happen. Help protect the wilderness we all value. Follow the BLM’s Outdoor Ethics guidelines when in nature. This ethics program works in conjunction with leavenotrace.Org and treadlightly.org to educate us on how to protect nature. Help preserve the wilderness for our enjoyment and for future generations.
