The Iroquois have lived in the Adirondack Mountains and environs for thousands of years. The Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy are made up of the Seneca, Onondaga, Cayuga, Mohawk, Oneida, and Tuscarora. These people lived in the area before European colonists arrived.
