Explore Burbank, California in an RVshare RV Rental

Burbank, California is in San Fernando Valley and was once a part of Rancho San Rafael and La Providencia, initially formed by the Spanish government's land grants. The city was founded in May of 1887 by David Burbank, a New Hampshire-born dentist who was also a great entrepreneur who established his sheep ranch in 1867. David Burbank then sold part of his land to the Southern Pacific Railroad, which enabled the railroad to reach the area by 1874.

During 1874 – 1857 a drought killed off all the cattle and sheep and devastated wheat. Due to Dr. Burbank's unique, diverse dealings, he lost less than other landowners in the area. As more and more settlers arrived in Burbank during the 1880s, the town was a village surrounded by small farms, alfalfa, melons, vegetables, peach orchards, and grape vineyards. Burbank's first celebrity resident was the heavyweight boxing champion of the world, James J. Jeffries. He bought 107 acres and built a large house and barn where he grew alfalfa and raised cattle. Sadly, his home deteriorated after his passing in 1953. However, the barn is at Knott's Berry Farm, one of California's theme parks in Buena Park, just 40 miles from Burbank.

Watch an outdoor live music concert at Starlight Bowl in the evening during the summer, or take a stroll through Wildwood Canyon Park. Those who are into paranormal, mysticism, or horror will want to explore the Mystic Museum for a few hours. You may enjoy other museums in the Burbank area, such as Burbank Aviation Museum and Gordon R. Howard Museum
