Mount Washington State Park is home to the Historic Tip Top House. This historic building, renovated in 1986, is the second stone house built on the summit. White Mountain National Forest

This national forest was established in 1918, and it is located near Mount Washington State Park. If you love to hike, there are 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail that you can explore. This park is a great place for skiing in the winter or camping during the summer.

Mount Washington Cog Railway

The Mount Washington Cog Railway is also called The Cog. It is the first mountain-climbing railway in the world. You can take a ride on this modern marvel. Some of the mountain grades are rated over 25%, and it is considered the second-steepest railway in the world. Biodiesel engines power the trains, but some railway locomotives continue to use coal-fired steam.

Conway Scenic Railroad

When you ride this historic train, you can see the true beauty of the area. A trip on the Conway Scenic Railroad is a five-hour journey that takes you through the Mount Washington Valley. The 1950s-era streamline train is designed to recreate the experience of traveling on a transcontinental train. You can even choose a luxurious ride in the premier-class cars.

How to Get to
Mount Washington State Park

If you drive to Mount Washington State Park, you will have to travel on the Mount Washington Auto Road. The toll road extends from Route 16 in Green's Giant to Pinkham Notch. Once you are on the Auto Road, you can follow the signs to Mount Washington State Park. 

Entering Mount Washington State Park

Mount Washington State Park is open throughout the year. However, in some weather conditions, the mountain peaks may be off-limits to visitors.
