Located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Tickfaw State Park is easily one of the state’s most popular outdoor recreation areas. The park opened in 1999 and has been busy ever since.
The park features four distinct ecosystems: a swamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a pine hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River. Guests are invited to explore each of these and learn more about the local flora and fauna. Animals that may be spotted during these explorations include alligators, armadillos, beavers, deer, foxes, opossums, and more.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Tickfaw State Park
Camping is something every Tickfaw State Park visitor should experience. After all, you’re there to immerse yourself in the great outdoors, so why not do it overnight?
Of course, you’ll need some sort of shelter in order to camp, and for many, a tent just won’t cut it. This is where RVShare steps in. Lakeside RV Park
Looking for something nice but with fewer frills than the park listed above? Lakeside RV Park might be for you. This lovely campground is clean, the staff is excellent, and the amenities are wonderful. Expect a fun vacation atmosphere and plenty to do right inside your campground.

Located a bit farther away in Independence, Louisiana, Indian Creek Campground is an excellent choice for those looking for a more budget-friendly option. The park is a bit rustic, but clean and well maintained, and the friendly staff and lower prices make this a worthwhile place to stay.

Walking and Hiking — A variety of trails and boardwalks give visitors plenty to choose from when it comes to walking or hiking. Bring plenty of water and your hiking boots, and get ready to explore some amazing places!
Water Play — This park is home to a water playground that is absolute heaven for kids during the summer months. While the park is closed for cleaning on Mondays, you can count on it being open all other days of the week from April through October. Make sure you pack bathing suits.

Boating — Want to get out onto the water? Both flat-bottom boats and canoes are available for rent through the park, offering guests a fun way to explore Tickfaw River. The rental fees are modest and include life jackets and paddles, making this an affordable and fun way to fill an afternoon.

The state park experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild, chilly winters. Summer temperatures range between 67 and 92 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter temperatures range between 38 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit.
Tickfaw State Park hosts many incredible wildlife creatures, including beavers, armadillos, foxes, opossums, deer, alligators, squirrels, rabbits, and raccoons. There is a high number of avian creatures in the park as well, including warblers and sparrows.
Booking a camping space at the state park is optional and not mandatory. Reserving a spot is highly encouraged during the high season, as spots fill up quickly. The cost of reservation varies depending on the time of year.
Pets are allowed at Tickfaw State Park. They must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet when outside the vehicle. Remember to “leave no trace”—always clean up after your pet’s messes!
