Explore North Charleston, South Carolina in an RVshare RV Rental

North Charleston was originally occupied by the Tidewater Indians. During the 1600s, English settlers began to migrate into the area. Some of the local Native American tribes offered assistance to the new settlers. However, other tribes weren’t very happy with the influx of European immigrants, so they began to threaten the settlers with attacks. Even with the threat of attacks, the new inhabitants were able to establish farms and homesteads. As the 1700s rolled around, dozens of plantations began to pop up. During the 1800s, railroad lines were established, and the phosphate mining industry started to thrive. The town eventually became incorporated as a city on June 12, 1972. The city of North Charleston is now home to nearly 115,000 citizens.
