The Big South Fork Scenic Railway is a 14-mile trip by a locomotive from Stearns to Blue Heron. The train descends over 600 feet into Big South Fork Gorge to the historic Blue Heron Mining Camp, which is the largest interpretive collection of historic coal mining in North America. Man O’ War, who is considered one of the greatest racehorses of all time, is buried on the property.
