It’s also home to the Indiana Welcome Center, making it the perfect place to begin your trip. It’s also home to historical ruins from the abandoned town of Conrad, with remnants of a school, blacksmith shop, and church still noticeable. Birdwatching is also a popular pastime in the nature preserve, as is hiking along the area’s 1.8 mile loop trail.

While it might not be for everyone, no one can deny that The Shrine of Christ’s Passion in Saint John is certainly one of the region’s most well-known attractions. The area features a half-mile pathway which takes guests on an interactive journey, beginning with events such as the Last Supper and Garden of Gethsemane, before taking visitors right through to the Ascension.

Other stunning displays include 40 life-size bronze figures sprinkled throughout the area, as well as a gift shop, and one of the most realistic recreations of Mount Sinai you’ll ever find.
