Uxbridge is a charming town located in southeastern Worcester County, Massachusetts. This central Massachusetts community is located just 36 miles south of Boston and a short drive from Worcester, Massachusetts. According to the latest census, the area is home to roughly 14,000 people. Uxbridge is a mostly suburban area with a somewhat rural feel. It's home to a large stretch of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, a National Heritage Corridor dedicated to the American Revolution. Other noteworthy points of attraction include Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park, West Hill Dam and Recreation Area, and Blissful Meadows Golf Course.

Uxbridge was first colonized in 1662 and incorporated in 1727. Before colonization, the area was inhabited by the indigenous Nipmuc people. The town was originally considered part of the city of Mendon. The town of Uxbridge was named after the Earl of Uxbridge, England. Uxbridge made a name for itself when it became the first town to grant a female colonist the right to vote. It was also the first United States town to utilize women jurors. The town of Uxbridge was also the site of the first mental hospital in America.

Like many Central Massachusetts towns, Uxbridge experienced a boom during the American Industrial Revolution. The area mills began manufacturing military uniforms and other clothing as early as the 1820s. During its peak, the city was home to over 20 different mills. Some of its most successful exports were cashmere-wool military uniforms and blue jeans. The city's industrial success prompted the building of more infrastructure, including houses, railroads, roads, and buildings.

Visitors can learn about the city's industrial past by visiting the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park. This public park's four-mile walking trail encompasses an 18th-century canal and parts of the Blackstone River. Cormier Woods is another local spot with excellent hiking trails. Visitors can check out the ruins of the Jonathan White Homestead or connect to the nearby Albee trail for an even longer adventure.
