The Daytona 500 is a 500-mile-long NASCAR Sprint Cup Series motor race held annually at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Daytona is considered the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR calendar, having by far the largest prize purse. It is the first race of the Sprint Cup series each year, which is a pretty unique phenomenon in sports, which usually have its championships or major events at the end of the season rather than the start. It is an incredibly popular event for RVing, where tailgating is a major part of the culture throughout the entire weekend of the Daytona 500. The entire experience is very exciting and entertaining, even for those who are not traditionally racing fans.
While the race is without a doubt the main attraction and draw of the Daytona 500 weekend, the venue also has a lot for attendees to do before, during, and after the race.
The Sprint FANZONE is the ultimate way to experience the Daytona 500. You can get access to the trioval grass along pit road, as well as the track surface before the race. There is also pre-race entertainment from many big-name performers and stage front access for driver introductions. There are also great dining and drink options at the FANZONE, including the open-air Budweiser Bistro. On top of all that, the true race fans can take garage tours and watch teams prepare for the race, participate in driver Q&A and autograph sessions, stand on the Sprint FANDECK that provides one of the most unique vantage points in all of sports, and watch historic displays that include classic racecars and other historic items.
Tailgating at the legendary Daytona 500 is one of the all-time great tailgating spots in America. It is a huge party with fantastic racing fans and all sorts of entertainment. Bring lawn chairs and an appetite for delicious foods, drinks, and great times. Come and enjoy some authentic Florida flavors like such fresh crab, steamed clams, and grilled lobster, plus more traditional foods like burgers, sausages, and wings are always popular here. Though the Daytona 500 is a car race, the Daytona 500 tailgating is one of the best parties of the year in the entire city of Daytona Beach, Florida.
