Explore Noblesville, Indiana in an RVshare RV Rental

Noblesville, Indiana, has a rich and storied history. The first European settler in the area opened a trading post in 1802. In 1818 the area that would eventually become Noblesville was sold by the Native Americans to the local government of Hamilton County. Noblesville's downtown first began construction in 1823.

Noblesville grew slowly in population until a railroad was laid through the town in 1851. This railroad, and a second constructed in 1875, helped Noblesville to grow steadily. The city did not experience its first large population boom until the discovery of a natural gas well in 1888. The town prospered from selling natural gas, and many residents constructed large Victorian homes, many of which are still standing today.

Noblesville suffered a setback during the Great Flood of 1913 but continued to grow and expand its industry. Most notable was the increase in flour mills throughout the city. The city hosted several mills throughout most of the 20th century. Noblesville High School students are still nicknamed the "Millers" in recognition of the impact of the mills on the community.

Noblesville experienced a rapid population boom between 2000 and 2010, spurred mainly by the increase in nearby Indianapolis' population. This helps Noblesville remain a vibrant community. The city is known for its unique architecture, including Victorian homes and the Hamilton County Courthouse, which was built in 1879 and remains in use today. Noblesville also features hiking and recreation along the White River, which runs through the town.
