Explore Newberg, Oregon in an RVshare RV Rental

The settlement that would become Newberg came about after leading pioneer Ewing Young arrived in the area in 1834. He settled on the west bank of the Willamette River, and other settlers would soon arrive in the area as well. The new community was originally known as Chehalem and then later Roger's Landing for early settler Joseph Rogers. Eventually, the town was renamed Newberg in honor of Neuberg, Germany, which was the hometown of the community's first postmaster, Sebastian Brutscher. Newberg was officially incorporated in 1889. Newberg would soon become one of the first communities in Oregon to hold Quaker services. In 1885, Friends Pacific Academy, which is now known as George Fox University, was founded by the Quakers in the area.

Present-day Newberg features a population of about 24,000. The city, which is part of the Willamette Valley in Oregon's wine country, is known for its collection of wonderful wineries. If you're a wine enthusiast, you'll certainly want to stop by places like Rex Hill Winery and Vineyards, Adelsheim Vineyard, Natalie’s Estate Winery, and Trisaetum Winery, just to name a few. The area also offers several excellent restaurants worth trying, such as the Painted Lady Restaurant and Just Pho You.

If you're in the mood for outdoor recreation during your visit, one option is to visit Rogers Landing County Park for an afternoon of boating and fishing. You might also want to play a round of golf at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course or go paddling on the Willamette River. If you'd rather stay indoors, you could stop by the Hoover-Minthorn House Museum, which was the childhood home of former president Herbert Hoover. You may also want to check out the breathtaking artwork at the Art Elements Gallery or Alisha Joy Art.
