Lollapalooza is an annual music festival featuring tops bands and musicians from all genres of popular music today. There are also dance and comedy performances throughout the festival, as well as craft booths. The festival was conceived and created by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band and has evolved into one of the biggest music festivals in the world. The festival hosts more than 160,000 people over a two or three-day period and has featured artists such as Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, The National, The Killers, MGMT, The Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age, Lady Gaga, The Smashing Pumpkins, Audioslave, and so many more.
The music is obviously the main attraction for Lollapalooza but there plenty of other fun and exciting things to do while here!

Chow Town is a showcase of the best food in the Windy City has to offer, featuring food from Bar Toma, Connie’s Pizza, Daily Greens, Edzo’s Burger Shop, Gale’s Root Beer, Gyro Café, La Colombe Coffee Roasters, Robinson’s No. 1 Ribs, Star of Siam, The Smoke Daddy, Tuscany, and Wow Bao to name a few. Haven’t heard of these places? Just know that they are some of Chi-Town’s most popular and deliciously eateries, breweries, and bars. Bring your appetite and enjoy the music with some mind-blowing food and drinks!
Each year at Lollapalooza bands partner with the event holders at Grant Park to help enhance outside of the music on stage. Current promotions such as Bud Light Whatever USA, Samsung Galaxy Experience, the F.Y.E Autograph Tent, and Toyota and SpinMedia Present SOUNDWAVE. These are all designed to make your experience here unforgettable, whether you are listening to the music or walking around Grant Park. You’ll find some awesome stuff going on around the festival as well such as corn hole tournaments, rock paper scissor tournaments, video game stations, dance parties, hula hoop parties, phone charging lounges, yoga/pilates sessions, and so much more awesomeness we don’t have room for. The activities are just as fun as the music itself.
The Kankakee South KOA is just an hour south of Chicago and offers all the amenities you’d want at a campground. Go hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, and much more at the nearby Kankakee River State Park. The campground includes a pool, playground, basketball and volleyball courts, and a game room. There are many spots and hookups for your RV with full electricity. You will be the perfect distance from the city of Chicago. Not too far but not too close!
This is the closest KOA to Chicago and O’Hare International Airport. There are planned activities on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day such as hayrides, movies, games, kids crafts, bingo, and much more! The whole family will enjoy this campground. There are full hook up RV sites, special tent sites, and 7 “Kamping Kabins”. You can take the Metra train from to nearby towns to visit Chicago for sightseeing, shopping, tours, etc. You can also explore the beautiful local area which is packed with great restaurants and shopping.
Chain O’Lakes State Park is the perfect campground for those who enjoy boating, canoeing, and fishing. The state park offers access to the Fox River, Turner Lake, and Grass Lake, so the number of activities on the water is endless. The park is about an hour and twenty minutes outside of Chicago, so a visit to the Windy City is very reasonable and easy. The campground has 195 sites that are mostly electric, along with clean shower facilities. Chain O’Lakes State Park might seem more for the outdoor campers but we promise everyone will love it.
