Coral Springs, Florida

It’s no surprise that thousands of tourists flock to Coral Springs, Florida, every year. With its stately covered bridge, top-notch Museum of Art and amazing campgrounds, Coral Springs offers a fun and memorable experience for visitors of all ages. Coral Springs, officially the City of Coral Springs, is a city in Broward County, Florida with a population of 122,994 as per the 2013 census. The city is a part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The city, officially chartered on July 10, 1963, was master-planned and primarily developed by WCI Communities, then known as Coral Ridge properties. The city name is derived from the company’s name and was selected after several rejected proposals. Despite the name, there are no springs in the city and Florida’s springs are mainly found in the central and northern portions of the state. The city has won accolades for its overall livability, its low crime rates and its family-friendly orientation. This is the perfect destination for your trip. Coral Springs is a wonderful little city with beautiful surroundings and every kind of attraction you desire. You can’t go three blocks without finding a park.

Entertainment is at your door with Coral Springs Center of Arts. They offer shows from Broadway, children productions and art exhibits. Coral Springs is probably best noted in Florida for their outstanding city attractions where teens and adults thrive, the city offers many activities including soccer, basketball, swimming, dance and art. Because this city has less traffic than other similar places, it makes it pleasant to drive this area in an RV rental Coral Springs FL from RVshare!

Popular Tourist Attractions

Coral Springs Covered Bridge

The Coral Springs Covered Bridge is a 40-ft covered bridge and was the first permanent structure built in the city. It is the only publicly accessible covered bridge in Florida and is honored with a Florida Heritage Site Marker. This bridge is used as the city’s logo, as it was the symbol of the town’s “country-in-the-city feel” when it was first marketed by the Westinghouse Corporation. It was designed by George Hadopp and it has a single steel span. It was able to sustain Hurricane Cleo in 1964 without any damage.

Coral Springs Museum of Art

Since it’s opening in early 1997, Coral Springs Museum of Art has served Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, Florida. This place focuses on highlighting present day and nationally recognized Florida artists who create traditional, modern and postmodern art. The museum is all about creating an art immersion experience with a beautiful Sculpture Garden and a Peace Garden with a multitude of indigenous flora. The museum exhibits the work of more than 200 artists in its galleries and the work of approximately 1800 artists in its lobby gallery.

Sawgrass Nature Center

The Sawgrass Nature center and Wildlife Hospital is located on 5 acres of land in the Sportsplex Park. This is one of the best places in Coral Springs where people of all ages can come to observe birds, mammals, reptiles and native plants and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature. Also, wild animals are treated, rehabilitated and released back into the wild while non-releasable and exotic animals are allowed as a close-up viewing opportunity. Apart from that, educational programs, lectures, camps, parties and group activities are also organized in the nature center.

Campgrounds and State/National Parks

Everglades National Park

If you really want to see what’s special about the Everglades, travel in an RV. A quiet walk down one of the boardwalk trails or a tram ride through Shark Valley will let you experience the Everglades firsthand. This place is an important habitat for numerous rare and endangered species like the manatee, American crocodile and the elusive Florida panther. Moreover, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a number of activities like camping, canoeing, sightseeing tours, natural wildlife viewing, kayaking, birding, biking, boating and hiking along with numerous amenities.

John Prince Park Campground

John Prince Park Campground is located approximately 36 miles away. This peaceful, beautiful and amazing place offers lots of fun and a relaxing stay at an RV or tent site nestled throughout the 48-acre campground. Here, you can launch your watercraft from the boat ramp and enjoy a fun-filled day with friends and family on beautiful and mesmerizing Lake Osborne. Also, get ready to enjoy bird-watching and other animal sightings while exploring the gorgeous 726-acre park.

Markham Park

Markham Park is a full-service regional park at the gateway of Alligator Alley, just 19.5 miles away via FL- 869 N. This park offers a broad range of recreational opportunities for RV travelers including a radio-controlled airplane field, a gun range, a dog park, trails for hiking and biking, fishing and boat launches, a tennis center with racquetball, volleyball, a swimming pool complex and a “mist” pool. The 666-acre park features 10 miles of well- maintained mountain bike trails with both a single and a double track. Despite South Florida’s flat terrain, the bike trails are often steep with switchbacks and rough with tricky surfaces. For hikers, there is a 1.5 mile nature trail.
