The Auto Club Speedway is a two-mile, D-shaped oval superspeedway located in Fontana, California which has hosted NASCAR racing each year since 1997. The track is owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation and is the only track owned by ISC to have naming rights sold. The Auto Club Speedway has a grandstand capacity of 68,000 and 28 skyboxes for attendees and a fanzone was added behind the main grandstand. The course isn’t only home to NASCAR related events, hosting both Indy Car Series races and other open wheel racing events. Auto Club is largely considered one of the finest and entertaining racetracks in the state of California, for race fans and first timers alike. There is nothing quite like catching a race and the Auto Club Speedway is the perfect place for it.
Here is quick list of some things to do and places to stay while visiting the Auto Club Speedway. Enjoy!
Tailgating at a motor race is as old as the races themselves, and the Auto Club Speedway carries that tradition as well as any speedway in the country. Come and enjoy a day or weekend filled with delicious foods and drinks, incredible live entertainment, passionate and friendly race fans, and the exhilarating race and time trials. Make sure you purchase a parking pass if you plan on bringing an RV to the park to tailgate or you will not be able to enter. Some things you might want to bring include: Sunscreen, a local map, a grill, a cooler, charcoal/propane, a fire extinguisher, food/drinks, napkins, plates/utensils, a radio/cd/mp3 player, garbage bags, an umbrella, chairs, apparel according to the forecast, and anything else you might think of. Remember this is Southern California, so it most likely will be warm!
The Fan Zone at Auto Club Speedway was opened in 2006 to give fans an unforgettable experience during their time at the racetrack. This multi-million dollar enhancement already includes delicious food at Apex by Wolfgang Puck, live entertainment on the concert stage, the Auto Club Speedway’s official store called Impulse, and shaded leisure areas that have nearly doubled the size of the Fan Zone. Recently added is the California Sea Lion exhibit and world-champion sand castle builders constructing custom sand castles that are unlike anything you’ve ever seen on your typical Southern California beach. You never know who or what might make an appearance at the Fan Zone either, so make sure you bring or buy some memorabilia in case an autograph session takes place with a famous driver or celebrity!
