1997 Jeep Cherokee with Roof Top Tent
$120
Review:

We had a great camping experience with this truck! The tent is really quick to install, super comfortable and spacious enough for 2, and 100% waterproof!! We had heavy rains on our first night in the tent but stayed completely dry and comfortable inside. Ray was very flexible and helpful, really quick to answer and full of friendly intentions. If you want to have an authentic camping experience on Kauai, we highly recommend this one!!

Review:

The Van is definitely a great way to discover Hawaii. You van enjoy superb locations at a great cost. This said, it is close to camping and you must be prepared to it. The van is superior for activities (Kayaks are #1, SUPs are good) but some amenities are below par (kitchen kit must be improved, freezer...well I don't really understand). Overall it is great however

Really great experience with Josh. Van was a cool few nights away and we are now looking to get something similar at home. Had everything in there we needed to enjoy Oahu including some great touches such as a head lamp and bug spray. If you are looking for an affordable combination of accommodation and transport, this is lots of fun :)

Amazing experience! The guys from Campervan Hawaii were super and this is THE best van to rent on the island. Punctual airport pickup when we landed in Maui, and even flexible with us on our departure day to help us check in at the airport a little early. Brian and Zach were very helpful to us getting started on our first day, from understanding the van to learning some local tips on where to sightsee, shop and find groceries. The Hymer was a great van for experiencing Maui - it handled the Road to Hana and to the top of Haleakala just fine. It was a bit cozy for our family of 4 (we're used to a Class A back home) but the layout worked well and we got the hang of setting up the beds fairly quickly. Being able to run the A/C off the batteries (and being able to charge using the quiet van engine instead of a noisy generator) was great! This is the way to see the island :)

Ariel and Luis were a pleasure to work with. Very helpful and professional. We had some mechanical problems with the first camper van, but Ariel made a pre-sunrise trip out to provide us with a replacement. I would gladly rent from these guys again. Thanks for the great experience!

My girlfriend and I rented a Campervan and spent the weekend on the North Shore of Oahu. What a fantastic time we had! We live on Oahu, so we are used to tent camping and staying at many different hotels, but we have never experienced anything more fun or romantic than this. The van was perfect in every way and fully equipped with all the necessities we needed to relax and enjoy ourselves during our weekend stay. We slept like babies on the comfortable and roomy bed. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was such a treat. Having a bathroom was also another huge plus. It was nice to be able to wash off after the beach with a hot shower, and the convenience of having your own personal bathroom to use when needed was huge. Sean was super friendly and made the pick-up/drop-off quick and easy. It took a little while to show us how everything worked, but Sean was very detailed and answered all the questions we had. By the end of the walk through we felt confident and ready to hit the road. Campervan Hawaii is a great option for a weekend staycation/vacation. Staying in the camper van alowed us the greatest flexabilty. You can fall asleep under the stars next to the ocean, waking up to a different view everyday. You can spend the day lounging on the beach and cook a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen. Or you can sip wine while watching the sunset in the evening. Most importantly one can create memories that will last a life time while spending cherished time with your loved ones. Campervan Hawaii gave us the freedom to explore and to be closer to the spectacular nature of the island. I highly recommend trying one out if you haven't before. We are already planning our next trip to Maui and look forward to living the camper van life again:)

My wife and I had a GREAT 4 day road trip around Maui. Luis was excellent in guiding us - Gilbert takes great care of this VW. The Westy was in good overall condition for an '88. We camped with the ocean just feet from us, crested Haleakala, and wound down the road to Hana - black sand beach, red sand beach, Pipiwei trail, snorkeled here and there. If you're a hearty soul and love the freedom to explore, this is for you. If you prefer a daily hot shower versus an ocean swim and a beach side rinse, this might not be for you, and that's ok. We had a fantastic reunion with our past Westy travels. Thank you Luis!

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS OWNER! ABSENT, IRRESPONSIBLE, IGNORANT TO RV RENTALS. This RV was just sitting in Storage and Jacquelyn (owner) is NOT present for any of the transactions but instead sends her "RV Manager" which is definitely just one of her friends that agreed to walk us through. Jacquelyn tells me to meet her at 6:30pm because we have to get the RV out before 8pm otherwise it is stuck in storage for the night and we are stuck in too if the gate shuts. Day of pick up she emails to change the time to 6:45pm. We get there at 6:45pm and we wait. At 7:15pm we get finally get a text from Jacquelyn with the code to get in the gate, the numeral spot location of the RV and then tells us it's not her, its the RV manager meeting us. I'm pretty sure this manager has never taken that RV out and doesn't have much experience with RVs either. So now its getting close to 7:30pm so she has to zip through all the set up and how to basically operate the RV, doesn't mention the propane needs to be on to keep the fridge and freezer cold (goodbye meats and anything we wanted to keep cold that first 24 hours), I ask when to use the different power sources and her responses are just along the lines of it doesn't matter and it should work since there are 3 of them. The story gets good here...the RV manager asks me if I am going to Stagecoach and I tell her No, Im going camping with the RV next to a friends house and we are walking over to a small music festival out on the Indian reservation. I was thinking this was a good thing since Stagecoach is fueled with booze and drugs so no big deal right? WRONG! I start getting messages from Jacquelyn accusing me of not disclosing what I am doing and messages lecturing me that I am the only one allowed to drive the RV and she is contacting RV Share because I lied to her…WTH?! Im well into my 30s but this woman is treating me like a high school kid! And here is the kicker….She is giving me a hard time about not disclosing my whereabouts (which I absolutely did tell her where the RV would be but as a grown adult I didn’t think I needed to share with her what I would be doing outside of the RV) while the RV is completely dead! So its now 755pm and the RV manager left without even seeing us off or making sure the RV would restart once the sliders were pulled in, and the gate is about to close, locking us and the RV which we have planned a whole trip around and suppose to leave that night with 6 friends, inside the RV storage place. Jacquelyn rented me a dead RV but she is giving me a hard time! I call her and she is ZERO help, her response was exactly “Do you want me to call AAA for you?” Followed by “you should cancel this trip.” Is she serious?? We have 6 people waiting to leave in that RV that night, 4 of them flew in that same day from across the country for this trip, and she CARES NOT ONE BIT ABOUT OUR PLANS! The trip hasn’t even started and this RV has a dead battery :( Thankfully with quick thinking I used my car to block the gate so it didn’t shut on us at 8pm and a little before 10pm AAA arrived to jump the dead battery we were stuck dealing with BEFORE WE HAD EVEN LEFT THE LOT! Oh and Jacquelyn didn’t call AAA, we did. And AAA showed up but only after the Police came because the car blocking the gate set off the silent alarm so add dealing with police into this horrible pick up experience. Ok now let’s talk dropping off the RV. I get in contact with Jacquelyn and she informs me to No one will be there when I drop off the RV so Im just to leave it. We leave the RV not thinking anything of it and happy to be done with this whole thing and this is on 4/30 before 3pm. Days go by and Im not hearing anything about my deposit. Then I get the generic email from RV Share saying Jacquelyn is holding my deposit for damages. More Days go back and she can’t tell me why she holding the deposit. After a few more days she says the generator isn’t working which I refute. The she says all the power is dead to RV since I didn’t shut off the main power? Was I suppose to? That is not stated anywhere in the RV, not on the papers provided, nor was I told to shut if out when I left it. And really where is the RV manager to do the intake?? Then Jacquelyn actually admits no one will be going to look at the RV until Thursday 5/10, a full 10 days after I dropped off the RV!! Now she is saying there is damage to a slider so she has to get estimates. There was absolutely no damage to this RV and I have 7 people that can attest to that. This owner is irresponsible and treats her property as such. She had zero concern about withholding this deposit for so long and I absolutely think she is trying to keep this deposit. I will be fighting these charges because 10 FULL DAYS the RV has been sitting there, we even had an earthquake here in CA, any damages would have to had to happen in her RV Storage. Jacquelyn does NOT care for this RV so don’t make the mistake we did. She is going to try and use our deposit to fix pre existing problems with that RV. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID! My entire crew of 8 all agreed that we would NEVER rent from Jacquelyn again and if we could go back we would have cancelled when we first got the feeling she was irresponsible and absent.

Great experience! These guys are great, pick up and drop off was a breeze, everything onboard that you need. It’s an old vehicle so the little quirks that come with that are to be expected but it runs great and was a steal of a deal. Definitely saved a ton of money doing Maui this way over a normal rental car and didn’t have to get a hotel either. Tons of great free spots to camp all over the island. Will definitely book again.

Paul was so great! This van became our best friend on our journey through Maui and we were sad to have to say goodbye to it on our last day. It ran great and was super comfy for sleeping. It had a great set up for throwing a surfboard in the back as well. Paul is great to work with and he takes really good care of his vans. We would totally recommend renting through him!

Paul is a super friendly guy with a lot Aloha spirit. He hooked us up with the van on extremely short notice and even offered to bring us to a coffee shop to wait until the van would be ready for us. Nothing really to complain about the van if you consider its age. It's really comfy and it drives really smoothly. And we got a lot of really good equipment (torch, lantern, cutlery, stove, towels, camping chairs, paper towels, wet wipes, phone holder for windshield and a lot more). Overall we loved it and would definitely book it again.

Renting this camper van is a life changing experience. THE BEST WAY to experience Maui and be enveloped by the wonder of the island. Sorin is a wonderful caretaker of this beautiful chariot. Paul was very nice to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. The van was in decent shape for it's age. Unfortunately Maui isn't really set up for car camping - campgrounds with amenities like bathrooms, showers and picnic tables are rare and hard to find especially in the Kihei area. It was very nice to have room for all our beach gear and suitcases in the van as we travelled around, but I felt a bit like a homeless person hoping to find a legal and private place to sleep every night. It would be better to have a very specific camping plan, which we did not have. Overall the van was fine, but just found the camping less than ideal.

We loved renting Paul's Astro Van! It was clean, ran well, and had plenty of room for two. Paul was friendly, communicative, and easy to work with, and he picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. We loved being able to wake up on a new part of the island each morning, and not be tethered to coming back to one location every night. The freedom of being able to make up our plan as we went made for great adventuring. It is super easy to find pullouts or campgrounds where you can sleep everywhere on the island. We will definitely be coming back and renting with Paul again!!

Paul and Sam really made an effort for us to enjoy our stay on Maui. They answered right away before we arrived, they were incredibly nice to pick us up close to where we stayed over night and delivered us a perfectly suitable car together with amazing information about how to discover Maui the best way. We would highly recommend Paul and Samuel at RV Share when you want to discover Maui in a cheaper and more fun and unorthodox way. We got to see everything we wanted and even more thanks to them! They presented all the secret spots on the island and helped ud find places to spend the nights. The RV comes with a cooler, lamp, guide book, map, madrass, Big blanket, beach chairs and pillows. Don’t be scared by Sam’s anger. He is just from St. Louis :D

The RV was well equipped & comfortable. Sorin swamped us out for a red one with the same specs as this one. He was super accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. The camper did break down at one point, but with free roadside assistance, we had it towed and Sorin had the issue fixed promptly, giving us his truck to visit the crater in the interim. We were very happy with the experience and would rent it again!

Review:

I had this van "Paia" for 5 Nights and I had a AMAZING time. I camped my first night at Olowalu as recommended, which was the perfect start as they have had the amenities I needed(hot showers!) and gave me a chance to reorganize to to fit my board and gear how I wanted. I ended up taking the van around the entire Island in a figure 8 and went through Kaupo with no problem(don't take it fast, soak in the sights and drive Hawaiian!) Van is wide enough to sleep in comfortable but still fits in all the "1" lane roads, I only had to back up once to let someone through but i was truly a 1 lane road. I didn't offroad but parked it in grass, dirt, mud and never got stuck. Van started Strong and suck gas if you push it hard, so drive like a Hawaiian, cruise and go easy on the brakes(they work but is a heavy van with you and the gear so it wont stop like my Mustang), 55mph is the fast you need to go to save on MPG and take in the sights. Its got shades and little window to let in a breeze, Hang a towel between the front seats and You got good privacy. I never got hot sleeping in it and the seat was super comfortable, no bugs got in unless you leave the door open to long. This is not a 2018 Van, its showing some age but it works! and its easier to let you inner beach bum free when you don't have to stress about messing it up. It was in better shape them my 2003 Stratus when I sold it which i find impressive cause I'm sure a lot of other people had an amazing experience it in. If you still not sold on doing Maui in this Van, here's the best part. You never have to go back to your hotel. I camped in Hana got up super later(8AM) and still beat all the tourist to all the water falls and awesome Spots. And Sam will hook you up, he's been living on the Island long enough to know all the good surf spots, camping spots and was super helpful and answered all my questions. Im hooked! Im going to buy one of these in Cali and never rent again! My plan was to cruise, chill, surf, snorkel, cliff dive, eat da local food, hike and get away from all that lame touristy crap. The locals loved it when you show up in this van and I even ran into another one of Paul's rentals. The Westfalia's have got that vibe but they are small and under powered. If you here to experience Maui this Van is the way to go! Go out there make your Own Maui Adventure!
