The Chicago Blues Festival is a free annual event hosted by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. Always occurring in June, the festival features three days of performances by talented blues musicians, including old favorites and those emerging onto the scene. Although the event had always been held at and around Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park, it changed venues to the nearby Millennium Park in 2017.

With the event being held at the modern and spacious Millenium Park, festival goers can expect state-of-the-art facilities and amenities to keep them comfortable during their time here. These include restrooms (including multiple wheelchair and ambulatory stalls), a Patron Services tent, two Welcome Centers, Lost and Found, free WiFi, and more.

LINEUP

Across 5 areas, attendees can expect an impressive lineup of musical acts, including Charlie Musselwhite, Bill Boy Arnold, The Jimmy Johnson Blues Band with special guest Rico McFarland, Bobby Rush, Latimore, Don Bryant, Bettye LaVette, Larkin Poe, Ruthie Foster, and more. These big names have been confirmed so far, but the full festival lineup will be announced later.

HOW TO GET THERE

Via Car

From Lake Shore Drive - Southbound (Route 41):

Using the Grand/Illinois/Navy Pier/Wacker Drive, exit and continue on the exit ramp. Upon crossing Illinois Street, stay to the right for the Wacker Drive exit. Once on Wacker Drive, immediately merge right driving up ramp to the upper level. Turn left on Columbus Drive (First stoplight) 1 ¼ blocks. The Fairmont Chicago will be on your right (Immediately after South Water Street).

From Interstate 290/Interstate 88:

I-88 to I-290 East to Congress Parkway merge. Remain on Congress Parkway 6 blocks to State Street. Turn left on State Street. Proceed on State Street 1 mile to Wacker Drive. Make a soft right turn on Wacker Drive. Drive 4 blocks to Columbus Drive (Second stoplight after Michigan Avenue). Turn right on Columbus Drive. 1 ¼ blocks. The Fairmont Chicago will be on your right (Immediately after South Water Street).

Via Plane

The two closest airports are Chicago International O'Hare Airport and Midway Airport. For detailed driving directions from either of these airports, click here.

Via Public Transport

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates a network of buses and elevated / subway trains throughout Chicago. From the elevated lines: exit at Washington/Wabash and walk east. From the subway: exit at Lake (Red Line) or Washington (Blue Line) and walk east. Served by buses 3, 4, 6, J14, 20, 56, 60, 124, 146, 147, 151, 157.
