Just 17 miles north of San Mateo across the San Francisco Bay is Anthony Chabot Regional Park. If you want a nice place to stay and also some outdoor recreation, this is the place for you. It has 70 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails, and the Skyline National Trail is great for backpacking.
Anthony Chabot Regional Park is run by the East Bay Regional Park district. It is a convenient home base for visiting San Francisco and Oakland. The best amenity is its access to outdoor recreation.
“There are endless things to do at Lake Chabot. You can stay near the main entrance and have a picnic, utilize the playground, rent a boat, or even grab a meal at the café. You can head down one of the many hiking/biking trails. There are numerous possibilities for exploring the lake.” – Branda, Google Review
