RV Propane Stove and RV Propane Oven – How to Find the Best One

RV Online Training

RV propane stoves are an amazing thing to have on the road. They allow you to cook wherever you happen to be, whether or not you have hookups. While your RV propane oven may not get used quite as much, you do have to admit it’s handy to have around as well.

Because these two kitchen appliances are so useful, it’s important that they’re included in every RV build. Additionally, you’ll probably want to replace a broken RV propane stove and oven as soon as possible in order to continue cooking in your tiny home.

The question is: Which propane RV stove or propane RV oven do you choose?

RV Propane Stove Top Options

When it comes to a propane stove for your RV, you have several options. The first choice you have to make is whether you prefer a freestanding RV propane range or an RV propane cooktop that must be supported by a countertop. Both are fine choices, but one might be better than the other for your situation.

Ranges

As mentioned before, ranges are freestanding, meaning they can be installed anywhere they will fit. Many ranges include ovens, and most have at least 3 burners. That said, these appliances are heavier and more space-consuming than a cooktop. On top of that, they’re also more expensive, with costs starting around $800.

Cooktops

Cooktops are smaller, but they do consume valuable counter space. There are drop-in options which require a custom-sized space in the countertop as well as slide in options that are much easier to install. A propane cooktop for your RV is lightweight and less expensive than a full range, with prices beginning around $150. However, cooktops do not include an oven and can be a bit trickier to install.

Which Propane Oven for Your RV?

Once you’ve chosen the best stove for your needs, you’ll need to take ovens into consideration. Some RVers choose to go without an oven, or use only an electric convection oven. However, those who enjoy camping without electric hookups and want to have the freedom to bake will want to stick with the propane oven option.

As far as choices go, there actually aren’t that many types of propane RV ovens. Most people will have an RV propane range with an oven. This is almost always the best option for every camping and cooking style.

The only other reasonable propane oven option for RVers would be an outdoor propane cooking station such as this one. There are indoor countertop propane ovens, but they are for commercial use, and have the prices to match that fact.

What to Look For

When shopping for RV stoves and ovens, you’ll want to begin by reading reviews. Find several options in the price range you can afford and narrow your list down by considering the features each unit offers. For instance, some stovetops will offer a cover, meaning you can create more counter space when your stove isn’t in use.

Can’t find something you like in your price range? You might think about purchasing an RV propane stove or oven used. Local “for sale” pages are a great place to find used RV items, and many are in excellent shape. Just be sure to test anything you’re considering before you make a purchase.

There you have it: all your RV gas cooking options laid out plain and simple. Hopefully, this article helps you make an informed decision that you and your family can be happy with for years to come.
